Florida Kids Helping Kids Deserves an UltraHug!
There are so many programs out in your community where you can volunteer and give back. Of course there are programs like Habitat for Humanity and soup kitchens, but what about something that is focused on the kids giving back and helping kids? I’m nominating Florida Kids Helping Kids for the #UltraHug award.
Florida Kids Helping Kids is an amazing 100% volunteer run program where kids 3-18 are helping other kids in need with things like food and clothing. It gives kids a place to volunteer, work together and help other kids in their community. Florida Kids Helping Kids sponsors families and children and help to raise money for things they need.
The very first child they helped had bone cancer and had a portion of his lower leg removed. The kids raised money to help him get a walk-in shower, a car, and a computer. That just blows my mind! These kids did this simply because they wanted to, they get nothing more from doing this than just helping a person in need.
Florida Kids Helping Kids does not turn down a child in need. The group is currently helping 4 kids going through chemo treatments. One of these kids also had all of his organs reconstructed and a metal bar put into his chest. However the group is not limited to helping these kinds of kids and families. Florida KHK has purchased a stroller for a special needs child, has provided a clubhouse for a local make a wish child, and numerous computers just to name a few.
The most recent project the organization is working on is building a splash pad for a local community. If you have ever spent any length of time in a tropical area, you can understand how beneficial or even crucial a splash pad is! Especially during summer vacation!
Florida Kids Helping Kids is completely run on donations. There is a small board of officers who donate their time, no one gets a paycheck. The age range is beneficial to the kids as well, it helps the kids involved in the program to learn to work together and with people of all ages, younger and older than themselves.
Overall, Florida Kids Helping Kids is a fantastic organization centered around simply helping those in need. The benefits the kids involved receive are great life lessons in giving to others without getting anything back in return. You can find them on Facebook under the name Florida Kids Helping Kids. You can also donate via PayPal, or you can mail a check or money order to:
Florida Kids Helping Kids Inc. 3560 SE 137th Ln, Summerfield FL 34491.
Remember, you can help YOUR favorite community project simply by snapping a selfie of you and your sweet baby, nominating your project (in the same post), then sharing it on your Twitter or Instagram with the #UltraHug hashtag before June 25th, when voting begins. Your community project could win $2,000. Even if you don’t win, sharing the love is a great way to raise awareness about your favorite organization or project so others may be moved to donate.
