Over the last couple of weeks we shared with you the wonderful UPS #WishesDelivered campaign. If you need refreshing, let me remind you real quick. Every time you share your heartfelt, selfless wish for another person on Twitter, Instagram or through the #WishesDelivered site, UPS donates $1 to their awesome charity organizations. These organizations include Boys and Girls Club, Toys for Tots and more. When you share on social media, make sure you include the #WishesDelivered hashtag.
This week, I’m excited to share with you a beautiful and touching video of UPS delivering a very special wish to Malawi, Africa. The wish came from Mary Singletary, the President of the U.S. National Council of Women. Her wish was to deliver schoolbooks to the children of Malawi. You really have to watch the video to see this beautiful wish of literacy in action:
The Gift of Books Opens Up New Worlds
I was so touched by this wish because I believe that every child deserves a quality education. More than that, I feel that every child also deserves to know the wonder and magic that comes from turning the pages of a book and discovering a whole new world. Seeing those children reading together, laughing and enjoying their gifts brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. It really is a beautiful sight to see!
A book may seem like such a small thing to those of us who have access to libraries and mass retailers, but to a child who has never held one, it’s like a wondrous new discovery waiting to be explored. The gift of education also gives children in developing nations a chance to make a brighter future for their communities, which in turn can help make our entire world a better place. A book is definitely NOT a small thing, now is it?
Remember, your wish can also help change lives for families in need! UPS is donating up to $100,000 to their charity partners during the campaign, so please take a few moments to share your wish. Just make sure you’re keeping in the spirt of giving. No wishing for a new gadget for yourself. Your wish must be for someone else and it should be meaningful. Don’t forget to use the #WishesDelivered hashtag!
What’s your wish? Tell us in the comments so we can check it out!
