This post brought to you by Aviva Community Fund. All opinions are 100% mine.
We all have parts of our community that could use improving. Maybe yours is lacking a good playground for kids. Perhaps you and your neighbors are dreaming of a community vegetable garden. How about a skate park for teens?
The problem, of course, is coming up with the money. That’s where the$1,000,000 Aviva Community Fund can help! Last year, the Aviva Community Fund competition helped 30 causes raise money to support their community. Every finalist received $5,000 towards their project, while 11 causes in different categories won grand prizes to fund their project! All together, Aviva Community Fund provided $1,000,000 to help improve communities in Canada. Projects ranged from helping homeless pets to building parks and new community spaces.
Enter the Aviva Community Fund Competition and Better Your Own Community
From now until November 25, 2013, you can submit your ideas for a project that will better your community. Your project must benefit the community as a whole to be considered. For example, a pool for personal use in your own back yard doesn’t really help anyone but you. A neighborhood splash park, on the other hand, is something everyone can use!
When you submit your idea, you’ll need to include details about the proposed project as well as a ballpark cost. You’ll also need some photos! Show the area that you want to improve and get creative. Your photos will capture the attention of voters, so make them stand out!
Finalists are chosen based on the number of votes, so it’s important to get your community, family, friends and social networks to back your cause. If you can get an insurance broker to support your idea, that also increases your chances of winning.
About Aviva Insurance
Fascinating fact about Aviva Insurance: they’ve been around for over 300 years! I didn’t even know insurance existed back in the 1600s! Aviva traces its roots back to the Hand-in-Hand Fire Insurance in 1696. They insured nobles and other notable figures, including the house of Sir Isaac Newton! Aviva has such a rich history. Any company that has been around for centuries must be doing something very right!
