With the winter dragging out and my energy levels at an all-time low lately, I’ve been searching for something fast and easy to give me the boost I need to make it through the day. V8 Protein Shakes & Bars: Gets You Past Your Energy Slump
You already know that V8 is the “pro at blending the good stuff,” right? They’ve been coming out with innovative new ways to help you get in all your fruits and veggies for years. It makes sense, then, that they’d come out with an awesome way to get a bit more protein into your diet too. The V8 Protein line includes both shakes and bars. I’m partial to the shakes, mostly because they’re a cinch to grab and drink.
The shakes come in three delicious flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla and Chocolate Raspberry. Typically, I’m all about the Chocolate straight up when it comes to shakes, but wow, the Chocolate Raspberry is absolutely amazing! It’s like taking a bit of a delicious piece of candy, except a whole lot better for you! The shakes are filled ingredients that you already know and love, like quinoa, brown rice and sweet potatoes. They also include yummy ingredients such as honey and cocoa. Each shake packs a generous 12 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber and a quarter cup of vegetables.
The bars also come in three flavors: Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Pomegranate, Oatmeal Raisin. My hands-down favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter. It’s smooth and tasty. You’ll find 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and a quarter cup of vegetables in each bar!
Did you note the part about the vegetables in both the shakes and the bars? This is where I got a little scared. I’ll be honest with you, I’m worse than a kid. I only eat my vegetables if they’re concealed REALLY WELL! I was a little nervous about trying V8 Protein. I mean, if I KNOW there are vegetables in there, would I taste them? Would I not like the bars and shakes? Would I have nothing to say? Panic set in as I put the cup up to my lips and sampled the first taste of the bar.
Thankfully, I worried over nothing. I didn’t taste any vegetables at all. Maybe a teeny twinge of a sweet potato, but only because I was on super high alert. Now, I enjoy my V8 Protein Shake in the morning to help get my day started and a V8 Protein bar in the afternoon as a snack to get me past the 2pm slump. As a crazy picky eater, I have to say, if I love them, chances are you will too!
