This post is brought to you by DreamWorks Animation to celebrate the Trolls Party Edition Blu-ray Release. All opinions are our own.
After a long, hectic week of working, I love nothing more than spending a few hours of quality time with my daughter in the kitchen. My son is older and often off doing things with his own friends, but my daughter is still very much “mommy’s little girl.” I treasure this time with her because I know, like my son, it won’t be long before she’s off doing her own thing too.
One of our favorite activities is movie night. We love discovering new family movies to enjoy together. We also love to spend time together in the kitchen, bonding while baking and coming up with new recipes. We often combine those two loves by creating fun, themed snacks for movies that we’re really excited about seeing, like DreamWorks Trolls!
My daughter is pretty much Trolls-obsessed. Trolls were the highlight of her Christmas wish list and Santa definitely obliged. She got everything from Trolls plush toys to a scrapbook to even a slushy machine. The only thing she needs now is the DVD! I know just what we’ll be watching for movie night on February 7th!
While waiting for the movie to come out on DVD, we’ve started planning our snack. We came up with a trio of Trolls Rainbow Popcorn movie snacks. I wanted to make something quick and easy enough to let my daughter take the starring role in creating. Letting her do the bulk of the work really boosts her confidence. Plus, it gives me a chance to talk to her about her week. It’s such a great bonding experience. Plus, after a long (and sometimes frustrating) work week, spending time around her optimism and enthusiasm is refreshing and therapeutic. Like Poppy, she is so upbeat and always has music in her heart.
These Trolls Rainbow Popcorn movie snacks are definitely easy to make. They build off of each other, using many of the same ingredients. You can either make one, two or all three! Let’s check out how to make them!
Trolls Rainbow Popcorn Movie Snacks
Ingredients
For each person, you’ll need:
- 1 mini bag of Popped Popcorn
- 1/4 cup mini, colored marshmallows
- 1/4 cup of colored candies: a mix of gummies and hard candies
Marshmallow Candied “Troll Hair” Tufts
- In a large bowl, microwave the marshmallow
- Stir well
- Add popcorn
- Form into a ball
- Decorate with candies
Kids will love making this one because it’s sticky, and we all know kids love anything that’s kind of messy! They can lick their hands after, another thing that kids love to do (parents, not so much!). Just make sure you rinse the bowl immediately because marshmallow can stick and be hard to get out.
Popcorn Topped with Candies and Marshmallows
- Pop your popcorn and place it in a fun container (we have cute, plastic, movie theater popcorn containers, but you can use whatever you have)
- Toss in mini marshmallows and candies!
Voila!
Rainbow Candy & Popcorn Sensory Platter
The third snack is super simple yet oh-so fun! Place all your rainbow candies, some popcorn, and mini marshmallows on a plate in a circle, like above. Let your kids choose which bits to add to each bite! This one is perfect for younger kids who are sensitive about different textures mixed together, or even as a sensory snack & activity for preschoolers.
Get Creative with Trolls Printables & Interactive Activities
After the movie, keep the fun going with these free printable activities! As I mentioned earlier, my daughter loves all things Trolls. She’s so much like Poppy, with her bright outlook on life and her love of music. Which Troll is your child most like? Find your inner Trolls with this fun quiz!
This 3D Activity Dice printable is just too cute!
Can you find Cloud Guy hiding in this picture?
My daughter loves coloring, so I’m printing out a few of these Trolls coloring sheets for her, too! Click the pic to grab six awesome character sheets!
