Looking for an easy and useful DIY teacher gift idea that will make a great first impression when your child heads back to school? This Crayon Candy Dish is adorable and practical! Teachers can use it for small school supplies or little rewards in the classroom, or at home for candy or jewelry. I love giving appreciation gifts teachers can use in more than one way, especially for the start of the year. If you want to go the extra mile, you can fill this with little things like erasers, paper clips and other small items. Of course, you could also fill it with candy. I avoid giving food as gifts, though, because you never know if the teacher has allergies or dietary restrictions. I’d feel bad if I gave her a bunch of chocolate only to find out she couldn’t enjoy it!
Let’s check out how easy it is to make this adorable DIY teacher gift idea, shall we? You probably already have some of the supplies on hand. The rest you can find at the Dollar Store.

- Red Spray Paint
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- 1 Pack 48 Crayons
- 2 Small Squares of Burlap
- 2 Pieces of String
- Mini Trifle Dish
Directions:
1. Begin by dumping your crayons out and choosing the color order you will want for your dish.
2. Next, spray paint the inside of your dish red or whatever color you like. We used red because it really pops, but you can go with any color.
3. Let dry.
4. After the glue gun has heated up, put a stripe of glue on the crayon and place it on the side of the dish.
5. Repeat this until you have made it all the way around the dish.
6. You may end up with the crayons not ending perfectly, that’s ok. Cut a crayon and glue it into the leftover spot as good as possible.
7. Next, make a medium sized bow and a smaller bow out of the burlap by pinching the squares in the middle and tying it with your string.
8. Glue the larger bow over the spot that didn’t end smoothly on the dish.
9. Glue the smaller bowl right below it.
That’s it! You have a fun gift ready to give!
