Think you know everything about Gru and his lovable Minions? I bet you didn’t know these Despicable Me 3 movie trivia! If there’s just one movie that my son and I are crazy excited about this summer, this is it. We’ve seen all of the Despicable Me films together (including Minions) and we can’t wait to see where Gru’s adventures will take him next. The computer-animated comedy movie movie releases into theaters on June 30, 2017. Check out some of the most interesting movie trivia I’ve found for Despicable Me 3!

Fandango - Despicable Me 3 FanAlert Sweepstakes

1.Universal Pictures released 3 movie trailers for Despicable Me 3: 1st was on December 14, 2016; 2nd was on March 14, 2017 and 3rd was on April 21, 2017. Here’s a peek at trailer #3!

2. Despicable Me 3 is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. Pierre Coffin also directed the 1st two Despicable Me films, as well as Minions in 2015. Kyle Balda directed Minions in 2015 and The Lorax in 2012. In addition, Balda was the graphics animator on the 1994 movie The Mask, directing animator on the 1999 movie Toy Story 2 and animator on the 2001 movie Monsters Inc.

3. Before Trey Parker landed the role of Balthazar Bratt, several other actors were considered for the role including John Cena, Ed Helms, Kevin Pollak, Ty Burrell and Steve Zahn.

4. The role of Balthazar Bratt will be the 3rd villain in the Despicable Me movie franchise. In the 2010 Despicable Me, Vector was the villain, voiced by Jason Segel. In the 2013 Despicable Me 2, El Macho was the villain, voiced by Benjamin Bratt.

5. There have been 3 cast members who have appeared in all 3 Despicable Me movies. Steve Carell as the voice of Gru, Miranda Cosgrove as the voice of Margo and Dana Gaier as the voice of Edith.

6. Nev Scharrel is new to the role of Agnes. Elsie Fisher voiced the role in the first two movies, but was replaced because she was getting too old for the role. Fisher is now 14 years old and while Scharrel’s exact age is not known, it is estimated she is between the ages of 6 and 8.

7. Before Steve Carell landed the role of Dru, several other actors were considered for the role including Tim Curry, Jon Hamm, Hugh Laurie, Thomas Haden Church and Vincent D’Onofrio.
