While browsing our favorite parenting tips group, we came across a question from a mom who was concerned because her toddler loves to be naked all the time. She said “I know it is a normal phase and it is a good thing that my 2 year, 2 month old daughter is able to pull down and up her diapers. However, some mornings recently I have found her playing in her room with no clothes on; she has pulled everything off! She also likes to do the same with dollies. My daughter is potty training. Any one else experienced this with their little ones?” She wondered if anyone had any good parenting tips or advice on how to handle this.

If you have a toddler, you’ve probably had to battle them to keep their clothes on. For some reason, toddlers love to take off their clothes and run around in the nude. Unfortunately, you can’t glue their clothes on them, which means you need to come up with some other way to get your nude toddler in clothes.
Your toddler loves to be naked because they love the freedom. They don’t need to worry about their clothes getting in the way of playing. You can use this information to your advantage when coming up with ways to get your toddler to stay in their clothes.
Parenting Tips: What to Do When Your Toddler Loves to Be Naked All the Time
Wear Comfy Clothes
Because your toddler loves the freedom, you might want to let your toddler wear comfy clothes when at home. This could be anything, from a long t-shirt with underwear or sweatpants with no shirt. This gives your toddler a little more freedom than jeans but also keeps their privates covered.
Set Rules
If you want your toddler to keep their clothes on, be sure to set some rules and let your toddler know expectations. For example, you can set the rule that they’re only naked in the bathroom. Don’t be afraid to let your toddler know why you have these rules. Explain to them that they have private parts that they need to cover up and this is why you have these rules.

Use the Bath
If your toddler absolutely insists on being naked, you can use the bath as an incentive. Let them know that if they want to take their clothes off, they have to be in the bathroom. You can then fill up the bathtub and let your toddler play naked for a little before getting them out and dressed.
Let Them Choose Their Outfit
You can also encourage your toddler to wear clothes by letting them pick out their outfit for the day. Your toddler will be less likely to take of clothes that they’ve picked out for themselves, which means you can rest easy that they’ll remain clothed all day, or at least part of the day.

So true! I don’t envy moms of wanna be nude toddlers! My son was not that type of toddler or kid, but his friend was! Each time we had play dates at the park or beach, off came the clothes! It was a real battle for her mom! Great post!
These are good ideas. I never really thought about the reasons behind it before.
My son was a naked baby most his young life. I finally got him to wear underwear when potty trained and now as a teenager he lives in his underwear and a long t-shirt. It’s all about comfort for him.
