Ready to spice up your salad? Try this amazing Chopped Tandoori Chicken Salad recipe for a spicy taste of India that your whole family will enjoy! A salad is go-to lunch recipe. It is easy to prepare and I usually have salad ingredients on hand. However, if I forget to add some proteins, I feel hungry one hour after my lunch and end up eating foods that I should not be eating. So I always add proteins: be it chickpeas, meat, or tuna.
One of my favourite’s addition is chicken. It is a lean cut of meat, cooks fast and cost-effective. But chicken can be tasteless if it is not seasoned appropriately. So when Pataks’s Canada suggested Tandoori Curry Paste as a flavor of the month, I knew I wanted to make a chicken salad. I thought it would add that delicious taste to my salad! And with reason, the recipe turned out amazing. I have never had Tandoori chicken before so I did not know what to expect but let me tell you this: I was missing really missing out.
I did not know that this Northern India’s traditional marinade was that popular either. When I went to the grocery store to buy yogurt & chicken thighs for my salad recipe, the cashier (who is Indian) was almost shocked I have never had chicken tandoori before. He said it was a staple in his culture.
For this recipe, I used chicken thighs that I cut into small pieces before grilling. I let them marinate a few hours in the marinade and grilled them on the BBQ before severing on a lettuce salad with some shredded cheese and cherry tomatoes. Then tenderness of the chicken combined with the crunch of the salad was a pure heaven to the palate. I could not get enough of it and I am sure you won’t either! So let’s see how you can make this Tandoori Chicken Salad Recipe!

I was a bit skeptical at first as I never mixed Tandoori curry paste with yogurt, nor marinated my chicken that way. But I was wrong. The combination of tandoori and yogurt provided a very tender chicken as well as a delicious flavor. My husband and I loved this chicken tandoori salad recipe so much that we had it two meals in a row. My 14 year old enjoyed the chicken and tossed out the salad (SIGH). He ate as is with a fork while my little princess added it to her sandwich. They found it a bit spicy for their pallets at first but they kept asking for more.

I love chicken tandoori! A great accompaniment to this is a raw red onion and cucumber salad (even my boyfriend loves it!), it cools it down a lot. Slice one onion v thinly, add diced cucumber, stir in two tablespoons of creme fraiche or yoghurt, and then 1 tsp of mint sauce. It is delicious!

I’ve heard that marinating your chicken in yogurt is a great way to make it luscious. I haven’t tried Tandoori, but I think I just might.
Yum, my husband would love this! I wonder how healthy the tandoori paste is though? We’re trying to be more low calorie for the end of summer.
This looks so delicious! The curry paste reminds me of the shrmp paste that we love to use in asian cuisine.
