Looking for a super easy way to make Mother’s Day special without spending the entire afternoon in the kitchen? How about scheduling in a tea with mom brunch before the big meal? I’ll be honest with you, I’m not a great chef. I take my mom out for Mother’s Day!
Still, I like to spend time with my mom (and my own son) away from the crowded restaurants as well! A tea brunch is the perfect way to do that. Who says tea time is only for afternoons? With Dollar General, it’s easy to make it extra special without busting the budget!
How to make Mother’s Day Tea Brunch Special
Tea time- whether it’s at brunch or later in the afternoon- needs four elements to make it really stand out: tea (obviously), a pretty setting, little snacks and great conversation. Dollar General can help with the first three. The last one is up to you and mom! Check out how I turned these supplies into a fun tea brunch setting for mom!
Setting the Scene:
Setting the scene for a special Mother’s Day tea brunch really depends on your personal style. Browse the aisles at Dollar General and see what pops out at you. A pretty mug, a nice place mat, some silk flowers- use your imagination! Go with the settings that really represent you and your mother’s personality. No one said tea time had to be all about fine china!
Dollar General has your favorite tea brands plus their own. I drink a lot of tea and I love their brand. To me, it tastes exactly the same as the bigger name brands but it’s easier on my budget.
Snacks are a must for a successful tea brunch. My Dollar General has a lot of snacks to choose from. I wanted something that said “tea time” without being too pricey. I love those little butter cookies that come in the big tin. I found a smaller tin of the same cookies on the Dollar General shelves.
Make store-bought cookies stand out by putting them in a pretty tin. I also used cupcake liners for individual servings. Finish off the setting with a super cute flower arrangement from Dollar General and you’re done!
All that’s left is to enjoy great conversation with your mom on her special day. The awesome thing about this tea brunch idea? Mom can take home the new mug and flower arrangement. These make cute gifts from the grandkids.
Dollar General is the perfect place to find everything you need to make every holiday a success. Remember my number one tip: go in with an open mind and an imagination. You never know where inspiration will strike!

I love those cookies. They remind me of my grandmas house. She always had a cookie platter out with them on it.
This is a really great idea! It is easy and fun.
I’d actually love that. I’m a tea drinker and I love a nice buttery shortbread.
I’m not a tea drinker at all and it’s such a shame because I think it’d suit me so well. I’ll remember this for Father’s Day though 🙂
I love this idea so much. What a great way to celebrate mom and the no cooking idea is genius.
This is something I can do for my mom without burning the house down. I’m a horrible cook!
Makes me wish I had little girls! Super cute idea! We always go shopping for flowers and then spend the day planting them!
I wish my mother was close enough to have trees with, this is a lovely idea!
What a great idea and think any Mother on Mother’s Day would love being invited to a tea party!
This looks like a great tea. I love that there is no cooking required. I will be taking my Mom to a spa for Mothers Day.
No cooking required you say? Count me in, that’s a brunch that would make everyone happy, especially me.. 🙂
What a quaint little setting for a tea brunch. Wish I could spend a day with Mamaon her special day but she’s so far from me.
Such a cute idea, it’s too bad my mother and me like to sleep in way too late for even brunch haha. But we do enjoy our nightly tea time, it’s become a real close nightly routine. For mother’s day I plan on getting her a custom made tea-pot, I’m so excited for it.
Love this idea! We normally do picnics or go out to a restaurant. My moms birthday is very close to mother’s day so we celebrate 2 on 1 day.
If there is no cooking required, count me in! This is such a great idea!
I love the idea of celebrating Mother’s Day with no cooking required! Dollar General always has the best stuff. I like to just wander down the aisles to see what’s new.
This is a great idea, I love having a nice cup of tea with a few biscuits; it really is perfect for the afternoon!
Shortbread cookies are one of my favorites! And, sometimes it’s nice to go the store bought route and leave the kitchen for company. Mother’s Day is one of those days I do just that!
omg what a beyond cute idea!!! I just love tea so this is my kinda Mother’s Day :):)
This looks like such a fun party! I would love to go to one of these! I’m obsessed with tea and have gotten my mom to love tea as well!
Mother’s Day wouldn’t be Mother’s Day without tea and brunch. Thanks so much for your suggestions, I’m planning a trip to Dollar General tomorrow and I plan to stock up on some of them.
I love no cooking, will pick up these items for the grandkids to bring to their mom
I love tea, tea parties, and using English fine bone china tea sets! This is definitely a lovely idea to have with Mother’s Day coming up! I just might do it for my Mom! 🙂
That would be so fun and relaxing. It would be great to relax with some tea and biscuits and chat with my mom.
This is a lovely idea. Would love to do this with my two girls. A little tea party brunch. What a fun idea!
I love this! Everything looks yummy, and I love no cooking!
You had me at no cooking. What a great idea this is.
