This post is brought to you by Hallmark but all my opinions are mine
Being the youngest of 4 kids, you would think I was close to my mom as a child, but I was not. It wasn’t until I became an adult that we really bonded. As a child, I was actually closest to my elder sister, who took me under her wings and made sure that my needs were covered. My mom had her hands full with my other sister, who was showing extreme signs of jealousy when I was born. It was understandable, as I was a surprise baby and she didn’t really have a chance to adjust to the idea of me.
Needless to say, there were some tensions at home. We were competing for our mother’s love and attention and putting her to the test. We wanted her to choose one over another. It was tough on her and on us.
Fast forward 20 years later, I became a mom. I had my first child and, 6 years later, my second. And history repeats. I understood what we put our mother through. Mom I am sorry.
Thanks Mom, for Making Me a Better Mom!
Now that I am a mom myself, I wanted to thank you mom for the following:
You showed us love in different ways, as we all had different needs. I didn’t get it then but now that I am a mom I DO. Kids are different and you understood that.
Accepting differences in kids and respecting them taught me how to accept differences in my own children and in other people. It not only made me a better mother, but a better business woman as well.
Dealing with my sister’s tantrums and addressing them gave me the courage to deal with my son’s eye disabilities and face them.
I have never said it out loud but you showed me how to choose my priorities in life, how to put my family first while also taking care of myself. You made me the mom, woman, and wife I am now and I hope my kids will be as proud of me as I am of you.
Now that I am a mother, I still need you mom. I need you because you are the voice of wisdom, of experience and love to me and my family. A mother is someone you never outgrow.

I talk to my mom every day, I send her pics of the kids, I encourage my kids to make her crafts and send them to her, and just in general, always make her feel wanted and appreciated. As the years go by I realize how much of an impact she has had on my life and how much Im lucky to have her!

I call my mom almost every day, or she calls me. I never thought I’d grow up and consider her a friend, but I do, and she’s my very best one at that!
That is so sweet. Not everyone is lucky to have a good mom.
This is a great idea to write a letter telling your Mom how you feel. I am going to take my Mom for lunch and to a spa for the afternoon.
