With all those delicious bakeries in Montreal, you can have a fresh bagel at any time of day or night! What’s better than eating a hot fresh bagel out from the oven. A pure delight to the pallet! As a Montealer, I eat bagels on a regular basis! (Not everyday though or it wouldn’t take long before I need to change my pant’s size! ). I usually buy a dozen fresh bagels. I eat a fresh one on my way home (I cannot help it, it’s too good)! The others will be used for a breakfast or lunch recipe! You can check a nice list of easy recipes with bagels

My favorite bagel recipe is the bagel salmon sandwich! Who wouldn’t love it?  Even my pickiest eater at home is fond of this easy lunch recipe!

Ingredients for bagel sandwich

  • 1 bagel. I try to use the sesame one or whole grain one
  • Light cream cheese
  • Slices of smoked salmon
  • Capers
  • Lettuce
  • Slices of onion
  • Tuna salad: you can either buy ready made tuna salad! Or just use a can of tuna and season it with lemon!

How to make this bagel recipe

  • Slice the bagel
  • Spread cream cheese! Be generous!
  • Add salmon
  • Top with lettuce, onion and capers
  • Enjoy!

This bagel recipe is a pure delight! This bagel salmon with capers is perfect for a quick lunch recipe! It’s filling, healthy and you have most of your food groups! Its better if you use a fresh bagel but a day-old bagel, or even a toasted frozen one would work. If you’re worried about the extra calories from the generous cream cheese helping, opt for a low-fat version.

So do you eat bagels? What’s your favorite way of preparing a bagel recipe? Let me know!

  2. Olfa, this sounds so delicious! I love salmon and tuna, though have never put them together! Love! Thanks so much for sharing at Best of the Weekend and pinned to our party board. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I’ve never used capers in a salmon bagel, but it does sounds like a tasty addition! I like using the everything bagel when I make them. Please stop on by and share with us at Five Friday Finds. :)

  4. What do capers taste like? They look tasty in the tuna salad. I like pickles in mine, do you think it would be a comparable swap to add the capers instead?

  5. This looks so yummy! I LOVE bagel sandwiches. I have never tried one with salmon, I’ll definitely have to try it! I like doing soup and sandwiches for dinner sometimes when we have too many activities going on the evening with the kids. Thanks for the recipe!

  6. This is one of my favorite meals! What I generally do is either go to the local bagel store and ask for a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese, Nova (a bit less salty) a slice or two of raw onion–HEAVEN–hum–maybe I will stop by and get one today!!! I never actually thought of having tuna on a bagel-not a bad idea-but bagels can be detrimental to weight loss and to diabetics!!

  7. Oh yum! I do eat bagels, but I tend not to use them to make sandwiches. Instead, I stick to simple spreads or fillings like a slice of cheese.
