Family movie night is a staple in many households, including ours. It is so much fun to gather around the television with a great new family flick, snuggle under the blankets and eat delicious movie snacks together! Enjoying a family movie night in your own home is so much more cost-effective than going out to the theater. Plus, if someone has to go to the bathroom, you can pause the movie! No one has to miss a moment! To me, aside from the savings, that has to be the biggest benefit of a home movie night.
NETFLIX makes family movie night super easy!
NETFLIX has been a favorite in our home for many years. I remember when they only had mail delivery options! I was so excited when they started offering streaming services a few years ago. I was even more excited when they introduced their “Just for Kids” section. This is by far, in my opinion, the very best feature of NETFLIX streaming video service. It allows my son to have total control over his viewing experience without me worrying that he’s going to stumble across something wildly inappropriate.
I also love how many ways we can access NETFLIX streaming videos! We have an XBOX360 in one room and a Wii in another. Both can be used to watch NETFLIX. We can also watch it on my Android-based tablet! If you don’t have any of those, you can watch it on your computer or through certain Blu-Ray players and even some newer television sets. Basically, NETFLIX is just about everywhere!
NETFLIX Just for Kids
We are super excited that NETFLIX has recently added some great new content to their “Just for Kids” section! Choices now include hits from the Cartoon Network, Disney Jr. and Hasbro! My son is a huge fan of all of those! We checked out the Johnny Test selection and were thrilled to find that they had a whopping 91 episodes to enjoy!
While this show is great for shorter bursts of television time, when it comes to family movie night, we often turn to Disney. It is so cool to see movies that I enjoyed when I was younger, like the Aristocats, showing up in the streaming video options. I love how Disney bridges the gap between generations.

We had Netflix for almost a year and it’s a great way to add variety at your fingertips! The kids loved the assortment of kid shows and we loved that we could always find a movie on there. :)
I’m currently using Netflix to catch up on some shows, it’s how I found Lost and watched it all in two months hahaha.
