I have a confession to make: I am a recipe hoarder. Yes, that’s right, a complete and total “collect thousands of recipes that I’ll never actually have time to make and line the shelves with cookbooks I’ve never read” type of girl. See, I’m not the world’s best cook, but when it comes to planning recipes, I kind of rock! When it’s time to actually get down to making them, though, I opt for the easiest possible recipes I can find.

Thankfully, when I was looking for recipes to make with delicious, creamy I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! spread, I discovered that there are dozens of really easy recipes on the It’s Good to Know website! I’m talking actual easy to prepare recipes that just about anyone can do. I used that site as a starting point to decide what type of awesome recipe I was going to prepare for my family using I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! I love this spread because it tastes like real butter without all the trans fat and bad cholesterol. Plus, it’s rich in Omega-3, something I really feel like I’m lacking in my diet.

I originally decided on two different recipes: Dutch Baby Pancakes and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. The first one, I found on It’s Good to Know. The chocolate covered strawberries were found on the dedicated I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter website, which also has tons of recipes. It’s entirely possible that I’ll change my mind again and create something entirely different. I keep seeing new recipes that look amazing, it’s so hard to choose! I also saw an awesome recipe for a fruit and yogurt parfait that I am considering. See, too many too chose from!

Shopping at Walmart for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter

Since Walmart has the best deals on groceries in my entire area, I naturally headed there to start on some ingredient shopping. I’ll be honest, my Walmart is always completely packed on the weekends, and I chose to do my shopping right smack in the middle of the holiday weekend. Oddly enough, it actually wasn’t as crowded as I expected it to be!

Yes, this is my definition of “not too crowded.” If you can park in the main lot, it’s a slow day!

I know our Walmart like the back of my hand. I shop there for groceries at least once a week. First, the store is less than 10 minutes from my house. Second, it has the largest selection of different brands within an easy driving distance. Third, and most important to me, the prices are fair. In some cases, half the price of other grocery stores in my area. When you’re living on an incredibly tight budget, that’s definitely vital.

Finding the right ingredients was pretty easy. The I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter varieties were all grouped together. I grabbed both the sticks and the spread because I didn’t exactly remember to bring a list with me. I couldn’t remember which I needed, and I know neither will go to waste. The other ingredients for my recipes were also really easy to find. While the aisles were a bit crowded, I was floored to discover that the lines were pretty short for checkout! Happy dance time!

So, what did I ultimately decide to make with delicious I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter? You’ll just have to wait until our next post in the series to find out!

  1. Dang, the suspension is killing me! I want to know what you made wih the butter spread!! lol. I enjoy the flavor of I Can’t believe it’s not butter. Although the husband prefers butter, so I usually only get it when he’s away on his internship. I’d love to see new options for using it!
