Making a fast and delicious dessert for a crowd is easier than you might think, thanks to Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake! While delicious on its own, it takes just minutes to kick it up a notch and turn it into these fun Strawberry Kiwi Pound Cake Kebabs! Trust me, if I can make them, you can too!

Since I have so very little time to actually get creative in the kitchen, I look for as many shortcuts and easy recipes as possible. I like taking a great pre-made ingredient and finding new ways to use it. Take Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake. It’s already a delicious cake all by itself. So thick and moist! So when I expand on that, more than half the work is already done for me!

For this recipe, I originally planned to make strawberry shortcake. It’s one of the fastest ways to brighten up a pound cake, after all. Then I saw kebab sticks as I was shopping at Walmart for my Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake and it got me thinking! Kebabs are fun to make and easy to transport. I wanted to add a little something to give it more color, too. What goes perfect with strawberries? Kiwis, of course! Check out how easy it is to make these Strawberry Kiwi Pound Cake Kebabs!

Strawberry Kiwi Pound Cake Kebabs

Ingredients:

  • Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake (I got the family-sized 1lb cake at Walmart for around $4.54, but if you’re just making it for a couple of people, you can get the smaller version too)
  • Fresh strawberries- assume one per kebab, once you cut the tip and top off.
  • Fresh kiwis- again, depends on how many kebabs. I got two kebabs per kiwi, but if you’re better at slicing than I am, you will more likely get three per kiwi
  • Kebab sticks

Directions:

Gather all your ingredients and take them to a large work space. I used the top of my stove, but you can use your counter or kitchen table.

Peel and slice the kiwis and strawberries. I do not know the magic way to peel them perfectly, so this was actually the hardest part for me! You want slices big enough to skewer with your kebab sticks without falling off.

Thaw your Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake. It only takes 10 seconds to thaw in the microwave! Slice the pound cake into about 1″ thick slices, then into cubes. Either save the top slivers for something else or, you know, just eat them. Or both!

Slide your ingredients on your kebab stick in this order: Pound cake cube, strawberry, kiwi, cake cube, strawberry, kiwi, cake cube. If you want to make them longer, keep layering, ending with a pound cake cube.

VERY carefully, snip the pointy end of the kebab off, if your sticks have them.

Refrigerate until you’re ready to serve!

You can get more creative and arrange the sticks into a clean, tall pitcher or stick the pointy end into a watermelon or something, but honestly, that requires far more grace than I have. If you want, serve with whipped cream or a sweet cream cheese dip. Isn’t that super easy? It’s such a fun dessert recipe, too.

5 More fun ways to use Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake in Super Simple Desserts

Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake is super diverse, so you can really get creative with it and still not spend a ton of time in the kitchen. Check out a few of my favorite fast ways to use it!

  • Peaches & Pound Cake Sundae: I actually made this once, it came out delicious! Just grill slices of Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake, then top with fresh peach slices and vanilla ice-cream.
  • Pound Cake Parfaits: Parfaits are awesome because you can go in so many different directions with them. Slice the pound cake into cubes, then make alternating layers using different fruits, pudding, ice-cream or anything else your taste buds desire!
  • Grilled Pound Cake Slices: If you’re breaking out the grill, slice the Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake into serving-size slices, then pop on the grill for a few minutes (until the outside is golden). Top with whipped cream, ice-cream, fruit or anything else you have on hand.
  • Quick & easy Poke Cake: I love poke cakes, but not the part where I actually have to make the cake. Just grab your Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake, poke a few holes in the top, then pour your favorite flavor of gelatin or pudding into the holes. Let it set and enjoy!
  • Just top it! If you’re really short on time, simply top your pound cake with whipped cream and whatever berries or fruits you have on hand. It’ll look festive and fun without much effort at all.
