My son LOVES Thanksgiving. He’s one of the pickiest eaters I’ve ever met, but he adores every single dish that my mom makes for the holiday. Stuffing, corn casserole, even sweet potato casserole! The only things he doesn’t love are the desserts. Like most families, pies reign supreme at the Thanksgiving dessert table, and Jake just isn’t a fan. I feel bad that he doesn’t get to end the meal with a sweet treat, so I usually just buy some cupcakes for him. This Thanksgiving, though, I’ll make him these Turkey Doughnuts! He loves chocolate-covered doughnuts and candy corn is one of his top 5 favorite candies. Let’s see how easy it is to make, then you can print out the recipe card for later!

Kids Will Go Crazy For This "Turkey" Doughnuts Thanksgiving Sweet Treat!

  • 1 package of Hostess Donettes (chocolate covered)
  • 1 bag of Hershey Kisses with Almonds
  • 1 package of small edible eyes
  • 1 bag of candy corn
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/8 tsp cream of tarter
  • 1 C powder sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • red food dye
  • piping bag fitted with a number 2 tip
  1. In a standing mixer, combine the egg white, cream of tarter, powder sugar and vanilla and mix on medium speed until stiff peaks form.
  2. Mix in a few drops of red and scoop into the piping bag
  3. Using 5 pieces of candy corn per doughnut, press the candy corn into the top of the doughnut
  4. Take the Hershey Kiss and pipe a red dot onto the bottom of it and place into the center of the doughnut
  5. Take two eyes and place a small red dot on the back of each eye and then place above the kiss
  6. Using the piping bag, pipe the gobble on the right side of the Hershey Kiss
  7. Let icing dry for an hour before enjoying!

So cute, right? Yet easy enough to whip up in a few minutes. The wattle (that little thing that hangs from a turkey’s beak) is the most time-consuming part. If you’re really pressed for time, you could skip the mixing and just use a piece of red taffy or other candy that you can flatten and reshape. These turkey doughnuts would make a great sweet treat for a school party, too, don’t you think? Just make sure your child’s school allows you to send in homemade treats. A lot of them don’t anymore, which makes me a little sad.

  4. Too cute! Homemade bread pudding is one of my fave Thanksgiving dessert recipes. The family loves it and I experiment with a different sauce each year. This year, I’m thinking of a pumpkin cognac sauce.
