I’ve mentioned a few times how much I love it when food doubles as party decor, and that couldn’t be more true with these patriotic cookies! They aren’t just incredibly yummy, they look so festive and fun on your dessert table! Pair them with our fruit pizza or blueberry pie for an even bigger splash. Ready to see how to make them? Patriotic Oreo Cookie Recipe for your 4th of July Party

Ingredients
- 1 bag of white chocolate melting wafers
- 1 package of Double Stuff Oreo cookies
(you can use any chocolate sandwich cookie, but we used Oreo for our recipe)
- 1 container of patriotic sprinkles
- 1 tub of blue cookie icing
- 1 tub of red cookie icing
- 1 cookie sheet
- parchment paper fitted to the cookie sheet
- double boiler
Directions
- Fill the bottom of the double boiler
half way with water
- Place it on the stove at medium to high heat and wait for it to boil
- Place the second pot on top of the bottom pot
- Pour in the bag of the white chocolate into the top pot
- Using a rubber spatula, mix until the chocolate is melted
- Dip an Oreo into the chocolate
- Using a fork, coat the Oreo in the chocolate until fully coated and use the fork to lift the Oreo out of the chocolate
- Lightly tap the edge of the pot so that the extra chocolate can drip off
- Place Oreo on to the cookie sheet
- Repeat steps with the remaining Oreos until all of the chocolate is used
- Let the Oreos set for 10 minutes before decorating
- Take the blue icing and drizzle over the Oreos
- Take the red icing and drizzle over the Oreos
- Sprinkle a tiny amount of the patriotic sprinkles on to the Oreos
- Let sit for another 10-15 minutes before enjoying!

A little tip for you: if you don’t have a double boiler, you can melt the chocolate wafers in a small stainless steel pot over low heat. I recommend leaving the heat on the lowest setting until you’ve dipped the last cookie so it doesn’t seize up as it cools. While you can also microwave the chocolate, it’s not my favorite method. I find that you have very little control over the heating process that way and it seizes a lot faster.
