The holidays are a great way to spend quality time with your children. My children love spending time with me in the kitchen, especially when we start having fun with kid-friendly recipes. These Christmas recipes are going to be devoured really quick because they are so tasty!
You can also use this time of baking together to reinforce things they have been learning in school, such as following directions by reading a recipe. Making these Christmas recipes together can even help them on their math skills if they are having trouble with fractions!
Both of these Christmas recipes use the same base of chocolate cake, making it very easy to do both the Christmas cookies and the Christmas Tree Cake at the same time. Are you ready to find out how to make these delicious kid-friendly recipes? Let’s get started!

Cooking time: 40 minutes

Directions To Make Christmas Cupcakes:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl except for the eggs and melted chocolate.
- Put cupcake liners in a muffin tin and pour the mixture in each of them, just covering the bottom of each liner.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once it cools, add frosting, sprinkles, chocolate chips or other decorations.
Directions To Make Christmas Tree Cake:
Follow the above directions, but instead of pouring the mixture in a muffin tin, you will pour it in a Christmas tree mold. Depending on how large your mold is, you may need to bake the Christmas tree cake a little longer. If you do, keep it every minute so it doesn’t burn! Remember to add the decorations once it cools!
How To Decorate Kid-Friendly Christmas Recipes:
Christmas recipes, especially treats and desserts, are easy to decorate. You can also get creative with your decorations and toppings, especially with kid-friendly recipes. In addition to using frosting and sprinkles, try chocolate chips, mini marshmallows or spreading peanut butter on top. You can also take leftover chocolate bars from Halloween, chop them into little pieces are put on top of your desserts.
Don’t worry if your kids, especially if they are very young, make a mess with these kid-friendly recipes. After all, things just are not as much fun if they don’t make a big mess!
That looks yummy. I really like the tree pan. Great idea and a great way to get the kids involved in the holidays.
Thanks, Nickida! I love to get the kids involved and they find it fun, too!
This is so festive and it’s something the kids can help with!
My kids had a blast and it tastes so yummy – great for chocolate lovers!
These look great. Usually I don’t care about recipes because I hate to cook, but I do love to bake. Maybe that is because I like desserts better than real food.
I was interested in baking before I liked cooking – now I love to do both!
Oohhh, I could dig into that cake now! LOL…
It was so delicious!!!
Very cute Christmas tree cake! I hope my son wants to help with baking in the kitchen soon…he’s just two so he’s not really interested yet. :)
Aww – Maybe next year he will be and then he can help you stir and pour the ingredients :)
