3 Recipes To Fuel Your Winter Activities

Planning a fun day of winter activities? Check out three great recipes to fuel your family on the slopes, in the snow or just out and about!

Now that the holidays are over, I want to hide my scale. I know I put on few pounds (I don’t need that scale to remind me of it), indulging during Christmas break (who didn’t?) and missing some of my boot camp classes (if not all). But as of today, I am getting back to my routine and dragging my family along with me. My Motto: New Year: New Us with the help of the new Walmart Great Value Organic line up.

As part of our New Year resolution, we will be exercising more and eating better (read: free from pesticides). It sounds simple and it really is. It may be challenging to exercise during winter but as we go skiing on a weekly basis, the exercise part is covered. For the eating better part, Walmart Canada has us covered with Great Value Organic products. Bonus: they are fully Canadian certified organic!

Today, I am sharing a list of recipes to help fuel your winter activities. You don’t have to ski to eat these. You can go tobogganing, skating or just make a snow fort in the yard. My point is for a day of intense winter activity; you need wholesome meals to keep you going so that you have the energy to enjoy these activities to the fullest! You don’t want to faint on the slopes or during skating, do you? Eating a proper breakfast, a tasty snack, and a balanced lunch is the right thing to do. So let’s get started!

Wholesome Meals For Your Outdoor Winter Activities

This easy oatmeal recipe is delicious and filling. The combination of pomegranate, honey and dates adds crunch to this breakfast. The Great Value Organic Steel Cut Oats is so good to eat. It is the right way to start your active day or any day of the week.

Snack Time with Walmart Organics

Then comes the snack! After two hours on the slopes, the kids and I are starving. It’s too early for lunch but the perfect time for a delicious snack. I suggest Great Value Organic Apple Cranberry Chewy Granola Bars ($2.97) and Great Value Organics Chocolate Chip Cookies ($3.47). They are kid-approved, and mom-approved too. I will also be adding them to my little one’s lunch box. She loved the cookies so much that she ate quite a few in a row! My son was fond of the granola bars. They are chewy and super satisfying.

Lunch Time: Spaghetti with Spinach Balls

When it comes time for lunch, I will be serving this delicious Spaghetti with Spinach Beef Balls. I usually serve pasta after a morning on the slopes. The kids are so hungry that nothing else can fill them up. It is also a quick dinner recipe for those busy days.

Result: What can I say? It is AMAZING. I could not stop eating the spaghetti. I almost fought with my kids over it. The pasta sauce has nice chunks that the kids love.

Movie time

After our day of activity, we usually watch a movie. That means: popcorn time! I will be serving this delicious Great Value Organic Natural Flavour Microwave Popping Corn . My kids and I don’t usually top the popcorn, but you can add some Parmesan cheese or any topping you like.

Aren’t these great meal ideas for an active day outside? Did you notice that I added the prices next to the Great Value Organic products? I had to share them with you because these organic products are so affordable. People usually refrain from buying organics because they are expensive. It’s not the case with Walmart’s exclusive Great Value Organic line. Eating organic doesn’t get easier! So, why wait? Stock up on these delicious and affordable products next time you’re shopping at Walmart or walmart.ca, enjoy the outdoors and start your year on the right foot.
