I’m kind of a quote addict. When I was in high school (before the internet!), I used to have a notebook that I filled with my favorite quotes. Now that we’re in the digital age, I collect them in my GoodReads account, in Word docs and more. Valentine’s Day quotes aren’t just fun to read and reflect upon, they’re perfect for adding to your handmade gifts or cards. Take a look at a few of my favorite romantic Valentine’s Day quotes!

Beautiful Valentine’s Day Quotes
1. Love Gives You Courage!
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”- Lao Tzu. Add it to a card along with your own words about how your partner has given you both strength and courage. Perfect for when you’ve gone through rough times and want to say, “thank you” for being there!

2. Reality is better than dreams
One of my all-time favorite Valentine’s Day quotes comes from none other than Dr. Seuss! He once said, “You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” This one is so perfect for a handmade dreamcatcher, a lavender-scented face mask or pillow, or other “dreamy” gifts.
3. Love looks with the mind
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is a winged cupid painted blind” -Shakespeare, in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. That happens to be one of my favorite Shakespeare plays because of its whimsical nature. My other favorite is Hamlet, which of course, isn’t so whimsical!
4. Love is weird!
Another quote that I adore, mostly because it describes me perfectly, comes from Robert Fulghum. He says, “We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.” This quote would go perfect with either a handmade card or a quirky gift!
5. True Love is the Best Kind of Accident!
“There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single, flashing, throbbing moment.”- Sarah Dressen. A perfect sentiment for your true love, don’t you agree? I think it means that true love happens unexpectedly.
6. Love is a garden
“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you…I could walk through my garden forever.” -Alfred Tennyson. If you’re not really all that crafty but still want to add a special handmade touch to your Valentine’s Day gift, this quote is perfect. Add it to a handmade card and attach it to flowers or gardening gifts.
7. Love is like the wind!
“Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.” – Nicholas Sparks, in A Walk to Remember. One of my favorite Valentine’s Day quotes to use in handmade gifts because it’s short, sweet and full of meaning. While he was talking about romantic love, isn’t this quote just perfect for a gift from a child to a parent? 8. Always…
Perhaps the most romantic Valentine’s Day quote of all time is really just a simple word- Always. It’s spoken by Snape in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling. If you want to include the full quote (along with a bit of context) here you go:
“Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

There are so many fun ways to use this quote in handmade gifts. Add it to a card attached to a DIY gift basket filled with books or Harry Potter gifts. Sew just the word “Always” onto a DIY pillow. Print the quote on cardstock and frame it. The possibilities are endless, depending on whether you use the full quote or just the word “Always.”
9. You make my heart sing!
Plato, the great philosopher, once said, “Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet.”
If you’re musically inclined (and if so, I totally envy you), this quote goes along beautifully with a love song. If, like me, you can’t carry a tune to save your life, flashback to the 90s and make your loved one a mixed tape. Okay, maybe a mixed CD, I don’t think tape players even exist anymore, do they? If you really want to stick to the modern era, you can go with a special playlist. You can even attach it to concert tickets to your significant other’s favorite band or musician.
10. I love you every single day
“Every single day I’ll keep you with me, no matter how far from me you are.” ― S.C. Stephens, in Reckless. This is one of the best Valentine’s Day quotes to add to a card for a loved one stationed overseas.
