Valentine’s Day is coming up! Are you bored of the usual dinner and a movie, or the typical flowers and chocolate? Is it time to get away from the kids for awhile? Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse for a weekend getaway. Check out some of these fun Valentine’s Day ideas for couples!
Valentine’s Day Ideas for Couples
Your local spa
Sometimes there is nothing more relaxing and romantic than a day at the spa together. Book his and hers massages, his and hers pedicures, facials…the sky’s the limit! Then snuggle together in some terry cloth robes and enjoy each other’s company.
Your local resort
Do you know of a resort nearby that’s known to cater to honeymooners? That would be a perfect Valentine’s Day idea! Resorts usually have all the amenities: indoor pools, tennis courts, saunas, jacuzzis, etc.
New York City: The city of dreams
Have you seen Sleepless in Seattle or An Affair to Remember? Take a trip to New York City and meet each other at the top of the Empire State Building for a romantic movie moment. One of the most memorable trips I took with my spouse was to NYC – we took in a show on Broadway, had an incredible supper at the famous Russian Tea Room, and stayed at the beautiful Roger Smith hotel. A trip to New York City would be one of those unforgettable Valentine’s Day ideas.
Niagara Falls: One wonder after another
Whether you visit the US side in Buffalo, or Niagara Falls, Ontario on the Canadian side, it’s a very romantic spot. Choose a hotel with a view of the falls, which are breathtakingly illuminated nightly. Take a walk along the falls and marvel at their powerful beauty together.
Ski trip
How does a trip to a nearby ski hill sound for a good Valentine’s Day idea? By day you can enjoy the exhilarating experience together of slaloming down the ski hill. By night you can snuggle up in a cozy, romantic chalet together.
The Poconos: Honeymoon capital of the world
Our editor, Nicole, is from the Poconos. She had a chance to visit Paradise Stream on Valentine’s Day and said it was amazing. Between the romantic in-room pools and hot tubs, the chocolate bar buffet, and the quiet atmosphere, she never wanted to leave! The honeymoon resorts often have fantastic deals during Valentine’s Day, so check it out!
Quebec City: French cuisine and old world charm
Quebec is a beautiful city. Enjoy the charming architecture, the French cuisine, and the romantic French language that surrounds you. Take a carriage ride through the streets. Splurge and stay at the famous Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac hotel.
Colonial Williamsburg
Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia has great Valentine’s Day getaways. Their packages include admission to the Revolutionary City, horse drawn carriage rides, as well as your choice of artisan chocolates, artisan breads, champagne, and more.
Your local hotel
If money is tight, even a stay at an inexpensive local hotel can be a great Valentine’s Day getaway. Oftentimes, you can get a great package deal which includes chocolate and champagne in your room. Perhaps you’d like to choose a hotel with a swimming pool so the two of you can take a late night dip. Or choose a room with a jacuzzi for a delicious soak together

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ve been to all those locations except Colonial Williamsburg, although I’ve heard good things about it. We have a similar attraction here in Nova Scotia, but it’s closed during the winter.
Just getting away for the night without kids would be a perfect Valentine’s for me!
Sounds like a trip to a local hotel is in order, Beth!
I love that shot of Niagra. It makes me want to go right now.
Oh I know, it’s so beautiful at night!
I love Niagra Falls!
Me too! The last time I went, I was pregnant with our second child. We had a wonderful romantic getaway together, with massages and pedicures, snuggling up by the fire and viewing the beautiful falls. Of course, champagne was out LOL!
