Essential Oil Pumpkin Candles Thanksgiving Decor Craft

How cute is this pumpkin candle craft? It’s one of my favorite fall decoration ideas! Check it out!

Coming up with fun Thanksgiving decor ideas that don’t cost a fortune isn’t always easy, but that’s exactly what we did with this pumpkin candle craft. If you’ve ever shopped for neutral fall decor (versus Halloween decor), you know that the selections aren’t even half as good as other holidays! Besides, I really don’t want to buy something else that has to be stored away after the season! My closet is full of seasonal decorations, and I don’t have room for anymore. If I add more, it will end up looking like one of those cartoons or comedy movies where the person gets buried by the stacks of stuff behind the door. No, thank you!

This means that I try to make fun decor that I can get rid of at the end of the season. I’m also an entire tight wad, so my seasonal items that are disposable need to be a decent price. This is what brought me to this pumpkin candle! Easy, cheap, and since the pumpkin will rot, it has no choice but to be thrown away. However, pumpkins usually last a while which means it will last through the season it’s intended for! Don’t miss the printable instruction card below!

Directions:

  1. Begin by placing one of your sheets of wax in your saucepan on the stove.
  2. Set at a low heat and lightly move the pan back and forth until the wax is melted. This will take about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Once melted, place your essential oil in the wax. I used a fall scent, so I mixed 3 drops of orange and 3 drops of cedarwood. If you like a strongly scented candle, double a number of essential oils.
  4. Give the wax a quick stir and pour immediately into your candle. You will need to wait for a few seconds and then pour more in.pumpkin-candle-craft-thanksgiving-decor
  5. Once your candle is full to the brim, place in the fridge for about 30-45 minutes or until hard.
  6. Your candle will have sunk during drying time which is what the other chunk of wax is for! Melt this down without adding essential oil to it (unless you want to) and pour it over the top of the candle until full again and place in the fridge for about 10 minutes and you have a candle!

Note: If you wanted a colored candle, simply use 3-5 drops of food coloring while the wax is melted. Place this in the pot at the same time as the essential oil.

  1. Awesome idea especially for centerpieces this Fall! I really like how easy it is to make. I’ve had experience making candles before but I never thought about using an actual pumpkin! I can’t wait to give it a try.

  2. Awww…These pumpkin candles are so cute! I bet they smell great too! I think a cinnamon essential oil scent would be nice this time of year. I like that the pumpkins can be used throughout the fall season. I’m going to try this!
