Planning a summer escape? Now is the perfect time for it! June was unseasonably cool at times, but July is already shaping up to be a scorcher! It’s time to wipe the cobwebs off your weekender bags and plan a few fun family getaways to take in all the gorgeous sights this country has to offer. Whether you’re heading off to an air-conditioned hotel to lounge by the pool, a remote cabin in the Rockies,  or a beach-side cottage for fun in the sun, these essential kits should be in your bag every time so you can have a safe and comfortable escape! Let’s check them out!

Summer Escape Essential Travel Kits

Planning a summer escape with the family? Don't leave home without making up these 5 essential travel kits! Find out what's in them!

  • Essential #1 – the Sun Kit

    • Your sun kit should include all the essentials you need to make sure you’re not turning in to a lobster, and spending most of your escape treating your sunburns! This means packing sunglasses, hats, lots of water, and of course sunscreen!
    • If you’re heading outside, always reach for sun protection first – including your Coppertone ClearlySheer SPF 50, Coppertone Sport SPF 30 and Kids SPF 60 sunscreens. And while it’s important to apply 15 minutes before heading outdoors, make sure you are reapplying every two hours or 80 min in or after going in the water.
  • Essential #2 – the Rainy Day Kit

    • On the flip side, we’re not always so lucky with our weather, but a little rain shouldn’t ruin your summer escape. Your rainy day kit should include board games, a deck of cards, and lots of pens and paper. While people will often reach for their phones and tablets during the rain, you can still enjoy some family time without the presence of electronics!
  • Essential #3 – the Snack Kit

    • My kids would agree with this one (…and frankly, I can’t blame them!), as you’ll need a good snack kit for any trip. My kit usually includes a yummy but healthy mix including a trail mix, granola bars, a few bananas and apples, a low-sodium beef jerky, and for a treat the kids will love, everything needed for a campfire s’mores.
  • Essential #4 – the Medical Kit

    • With all the outdoor time, you’re bound to encounter some minor scrapes and bruises. Pick up a general first aid kit to be safe, including bandages, disinfectant wipes and gauze. For women, yeast infections can happen anytime, especially in situations with wet bathing suits. Keep CanesOral Combi-Pak on hand for easy and convenient go-to relief so you can get back to being you , and not let it ruin your summer escape.
  • Essential #5 – the Bug Kit

    • Nothing says summer like mosquitoes and other little insects. While a fly swatter might do the trick some, you don’t want to forget your Muskol Insect Repellent – it provides eight hours of effective protection against mosquitoes, black flies, and ticks (a growing threat here in Canada) among others.

  1. the sun kit is a great idea! I constantly find myself forgetting sunscreen, lotion, or both. Yikes! I love the idea of keeping it all in a go-to bag so we can grab it and run.

  2. Love these ideas! Popcorn would be a must in our snack kit AND our rainy day kit, because it’s our go to snack! Love all of these suggestions, what a great way to be prepared for just about anything!

  3. Love these things! I can’t live the house without applying sunscreen and must carry sunscreen in my purse everywhere!

Preparing for traveling during the summer is essential. You don’t want to find you or your loved ones out in the sun without sunblock or bug spray!

  5. Preparation can mean the difference between a bump in the road and a ruined vacation. We are hitting the road next week so this is a great checklist for me.

  6. Gosh thanks for reminder! I need to check out our first aid kit I have in our van to ensure I have my supplies all caught up and ready to go!

Great suggestions. With summer here t’s important to stay protected especially with essentials.

  8. Sunscreen is important, even on a cloudy day. We’ve found it’s helpful to always bring that and a hat for our youngest.

  9. So many great suggestions involving summer essentials. We live in a desert climate, so a proper sun kit is an absolute must around here.

  10. My summer escape list would include: tablet and phone for playing games and staying in touch with people; a good book to read; and a friend or two to hang out with all summer long.

  11. These kits are great! The bug repellent is going to be so useful throughout the summer. We live near a creek so mosquitoes can be a problem!

I could’ve used some of that dang bug spray in the bug kit last night during the 4th! those pesky mosquitos I tell ya! it’s the worst when they bite you on the butt and you can’t scratch it even though it really itches…yikes, I’ve said too much ; P great kits!

  13. Awesome kits! Love them all especially the sun kit! That is the one I need most and more or less have in my bag at all times lol. I would also need a snack kit!

  14. Never thought about making several different kinds of snack kits. Really good idea and can change them out for the season.
