Looking for some of the best places to celebrate the 4th of July? We have you covered! The 4th of July is a great time for parades, fireworks and barbecues. While most towns do their own mini-celebrations with fabulous fireworks shows, if you want to see the absolute most amazing displays, you may want to do a little traveling! Here are some of the best places in the United States to celebrate the 4th of July.

Best Places to Celebrate the 4th of July

San Francisco, California

Pier 39, located on Beach Street and The Embarcadero, is the host of the 4th of July Celebration. For 2016, the group Tainted Love will perform The Best of the 80’s Live. They perform all the best songs of the 80’s including Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar, Let’s Dance by David Bowie, Material Girl by Madonna and Roxanne by The Police. Pier 39 is set on 45-acres of beautiful waterfront, featuring 14 restaurants and more than 90 shops and attractions. The fireworks show on the 4th features over 10,000 fireworks synced to a customized soundtrack.

Washington, DC

Washington, DC is the home to the National Mall Independence Day Celebration. The celebration takes place on the National Mall, 146 acres of historical landmarks and museums such as The National Museum of American History, The National Air and Space Museum and The Smithsonian Institution Building. The fun-filled day/evening conclude with a spectacular fireworks display from The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Charleston, South Carolina

The Patriots Point 4th of July Blast starts in mid-afternoon on the 4th, features things for the whole family to do and ends with an amazing fireworks display, set over Charleston Harbor and takes place from the U.S.S. Yorktown. The fireworks display is set to music, and you can also purchase tickets to watch the display from the deck of the historic U.S.S. Yorktown.

Boston, Massachusetts

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will celebrate its 43rd year showcasing the two-day event On July 3rd and 4th, 2016. This year will also be the 43rd time that The Boston Pops will perform their Fourth of July Concert on the banks of the Charles River at the Hatch Shell, an outdoor concert venue. On the night of the 4th, the concert by The Boston Pops begins at 8:30 p.m. and concludes at 10:30 p.m., followed by a 30-minute fireworks show.

If you don’t live near one of these areas or don’t want to travel, you can still have a blast (pun intended) on the 4th of July in your own hometown. Check your local paper for festivals and events. Can’t find anything good? Throw your 4th of July party, complete with patriotic snacks! You’ll still need to find a place to watch the fireworks (it’s just not safe to set them off in your back yard).

  2. It would be nice to celebrate the 4th of July somewhere far from where I am, like California. Regardless, anywhere you’re with family would be the best place. I like that we’re very big on celebrating this, because it shows our love for our country.
