Dreams can come in any size, at any time and at any age. Whether you are a kid just starting to come up with ideas or 91 years old, everyone should be able to work towards and follow their dreams. Most of us at some point run into a bump in our path, and that is when a helping hand can help keep us on the way to our dreams.
Will You Be Chasing Dreams At 91 Years Old? BMO’s #HelpGiven Story
How long will you chase your dreams? This holiday season BMO is helping give a few special customers a hand up towards their dreams to keep them alive and moving. Check out Catherine’s lovely story, a 91-year-old woman who has a dream for a new beauty product. Her local BMO banker who is also a friend is reaching out to give Catherine a special helping hand to help her reach her dream to see her product helping women put on their makeup in a way that is beautiful and mess free. Catherine describe’s BMO’s help as “the most exciting surprise of her entire life!” I hope when I am 91, I still have dreams and surprises that are the most exciting of my entire life.
My #HelpGiven Story
Have you ever had someone give you a helping hand? I know I have and I was so thankful when they did. My husband and I have moved around a bunch of times for his career. There have been several times when we have found ourselves living in an entirely new city without knowing a single person. This can be exciting as we explore new places, but can be difficult when the holidays come around.
The very first time my husband and I made a big move, we found ourselves alone for the holidays. We were chasing our dream as a couple but very lonely and also quite broke. I was trying to land my first real professional job in a very big city, and the days looking for a job were long and lonely. One of my husband’s coworkers also had no family close by and invited us over for the holiday. This may seem like a small gesture, but to us, the invite meant the world. We had been feeling very down missing home and had even considered moving back to where we had grown up.
During that holiday, we have never laughed so many times. Our new friends opened up to us and we had a lovely holiday. We stayed in that city for my husband to finish grad school, and then both couples moved on to the next big job. Over the next nine years, all four friends would continue to help support each other through many moves including one that was international. Despite no longer living in the same city, we still celebrate Christmas together every year. Had our new friends not been there to give a helping hand, my husband and I may have given up and moved back closer to home. Through the help of our friends, we were able to find the strength to explore many new places and meet many more good people.
Help does not always come where we expect it and the best help is not cookie cutter. A helping hand is personal between the giver and the person in need and is led with the heart. BMO is helping to make some dreams for some special customers come true by reaching out a helping hand.
In the spirit of the holiday season, how have you given help to someone you know? Has anyone ever given you help in some way that was unforgettable? Leave me a comment and tell me your story!
