Temporary Tattoos: These are tons of fun and very inexpensive. Grab a large package and cut them apart giving 1-2 to each child. Fun Halloween or classic prints are great, but look for glow in the dark for the most fun.
Costume Jewelry: Things like spider rings, necklaces and mini tiaras are fun and easy to find for cheap on sites like Oriental Trading or at your local dollar store.
Mini Puzzles: Great mini puzzles are fun for all ages. We love the ones that are small plastic puzzles shaped like animals, planes, etc. that you work the ball in and out of the maze to hit the jackpot.
Bouncy Balls: Cheap, fun and always a hit with kids. Grab a bag of a few dozen and hand them out to every kid that comes along.
Mini Slinkies: What’s not to love about slinkies? They often have great deals on mini slinkies when purchased in bulk.
Bubbles: Bubbles are another great hit with the kids that are easy to find in party favor sections at low costs.
Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas: We love slicing ripe bananas and coating them in melted dark chocolate (use some of your candy stash). Place in a layer on a cookie sheet and freeze. They make great bite sized snacks that are healthier than your typical candy. These are perfect for serving at a party.
Popcorn: Always a classic snack at Halloween, this is perfect for making in large batches and bagging in fun Halloween bags. Sprinkle on some light seasoning for fun variety. If hosting a party you can set up a popcorn station with various seasoning for people to mix and match for their favorite flavor.

GREAT IDEAS
I’d love to get my hands on some mini slinkies
There are some great ideas here. I have to make sure there is something for my grandson that does not have nuts!
Great ideas, I like bubbles and the bouncy balls.
I am giving out 100% natural fig bars guess if they don’t like them their parents can eat them
Slinkies are fun!
I am getting so many great ideas about alternatives to Halloween candy. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love giving the kids the option of having something other then candy when they come trick or treating. All very good options!
Great ideas! I like the costume jewelry idea!
These are some great ideas.. Bubbles and tattoos are always a favorite with my kids.
I really love this idea. And they’ll still love it! Thanks for this post!
What a good list of fun candy alternatives. I always feel guilty about giving out so much candy. I think that I will pick up some other little trinkets as well.
We too decided a couple of years ago to trade in the sweet treats for, one year bouncy balls and this year organic puffed rice bars.
That is a good idea. I never heard of that or thought of that when the kids were little.
Great ideas, I like the bouncy balls one
It’s very creative, haven’t thought about giving out toys instead of candy
This is a great idea! I’m thinking about buying small Halloween toys after Halloween (when everything is on clearance) for next year so I don’t have to give out candy at all.
bubbles are fun!
I do like this idea because it can be a way to teach a child about value and reduces the amount of candy consumed.
…and if you don’t mind being judged, you can save the candy for other things like making goodie bags to give away (where you would normally buy candy), lol!
This is a great idea!! I think we might try candy trade in this year.
What a brilliant idea! The kids get way to much candy don’t they?
