Bubbles:  Bubbles are another great hit with the kids that are easy to find in party favor sections at low costs.

Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas: We love slicing ripe bananas and coating them in melted dark chocolate (use some of your candy stash).  Place in a layer on a cookie sheet and freeze. They make great bite sized snacks that are healthier than your typical candy.  These are perfect for serving at a party.

Popcorn:  Always a classic snack at Halloween, this is perfect for making in large batches and bagging in fun Halloween bags.  Sprinkle on some light seasoning for fun variety.  If hosting a party you can set up a popcorn station with various seasoning for people to mix and match for their favorite flavor.

  1. I love giving the kids the option of having something other then candy when they come trick or treating. All very good options!

  2. What a good list of fun candy alternatives. I always feel guilty about giving out so much candy. I think that I will pick up some other little trinkets as well.

  3. We too decided a couple of years ago to trade in the sweet treats for, one year bouncy balls and this year organic puffed rice bars.

  4. This is a great idea! I’m thinking about buying small Halloween toys after Halloween (when everything is on clearance) for next year so I don’t have to give out candy at all.

  5. I do like this idea because it can be a way to teach a child about value and reduces the amount of candy consumed.

…and if you don’t mind being judged, you can save the candy for other things like making goodie bags to give away (where you would normally buy candy), lol!
