Looking for the best Halloween books for kids of all ages? We have you covered! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I’ve stocked my son’s library full of fun stories over the years. I even read him board books about the season as a baby and toddler! With hundreds, maybe even thousands, of stories out there, the only challenge in choosing a few good books is narrowing down your choices! We’ve done that for you right here. It is the story of a sweet witch and her friendly cat who invite some of their animal friends to travel on her broomstick. It is the tale of a scary looking witch who was trying hard to get her potions and spells to come out right and she just couldn’t do it and she had no idea why. From Carol’s Notebook, “Humbug Witch by Lorna Balian is a charming Halloween read for young kids. The little witch is perfect. She has her slightly squashed, tall, black, pointed hat, her witchy shoes, long stringy hair and a sturdy broomstick.”

It is the story of a young girl and her dad walking around a dark and mysterious house. The illustrations throughout the book only show two pairs of feet as they walk through the house, one pair of little feet and one pair of bigger feet. Publishers Weekly said, “All in all, this winning addition to the Halloween bookshelf is sure to prompt as many giggles and shivers as the holiday itself.”

With such a wide range of Halloween books for kids of all ages, you’ll definitely find something you love to help your little one celebrate the season! My personal favorite is the In a Haunted House book. It’s so much fun to read!

  1. omg! that room on the broom! funny that it is on your list. I stumbled upon that book from my neighbor when she asked me to help move her closet and was reading her books. very nice one!

  2. I love buying story books for my kids when they were little and I remember buying one for each of the different seasons as well. These stories sound interesting and I’m sure a lot of kids will enjoy reading them.

  3. We have a Room On A Broom, but the rest are new to me! I am definitely going to be ordering one or two that your suggested. My daughter love Halloween!

  4. Oh, these sound awesome! I love finding children’s books that are exciting for my nephew and I to read together, lol. These definitely fall under must read, especially In the Haunted House, if it’s the story I think it is. :)
