Get a head start on your homemade tree decorations with an easy Christmas craft that’s perfect for kids and adults alike. This DIY puff ball ornament project is super inexpensive, making it a great rainy day activity. It’s also a fun way to keep kids busy on Thanksgiving while you’re waiting for your feast to finish cooking!
I love Christmas. It’s such a nostalgic time where family time seems to be number one on the priority list. I get overly excited about crafting and decorating, even more so than any other holiday. I’m not sure why that it is but I love the feeling of being motivated to create something fun. I decided to make something for my niece who loves to craft and is probably better at it than I am.
We had a blast putting together this ornament using only little puff balls from Walmart. She couldn’t believe how well she did and I honestly couldn’t believe I was able to help her make an ornament that didn’t look like it was from the island of misfit toys. It was a ton of fun and we look forward to adding other designs to our next round of ornaments! Check out how we did it, then print out the project card for later!

Items Needed:
- 2 Packages Sparkly Pom-Pom Puff Balls
- Glue Gun
- Clear Ornament with Removable Top
- Scissors
Directions:
- Begin by choosing the color of puff ball you want to fill your ornament. I chose white because it allowed the decorations on the ornament to pop. I got my puff balls from Walmart, but you can get them from your favorite craft store or Amazon too.
- Once you have chosen your color, take your scissors and cut each puff ball to fill the ornament, in half. This will make it fall apart into shreds that can easily be stuffed inside the ornament. It took about two large puff balls and two medium, to fill the bulb.
- Next, to make the snowman face, pick out 5 mini red balls, 2 medium green balls, and 1 medium yellow ball.
- Using the glue gun, place the puff balls on the outside of the bulb to make the snowman face. Many other shapes can be made such as a Christmas tree, reindeer, elf, etc.
