Protect Yourself From Accidents and Illness with Travel Insurance From CAA

When you plan a vacation or go on a spontaneous trip, purchasing travel insurance is probably the last thing on your mind. But what would you do if you had an accident or became seriously ill? There are so many things that could happen and you should be covered by insurance rather than risk financial devastation.

Who is CAA?
CAA (Canada Automobile Association) is a not-for-profit auto club that provides insurance, travel, automotive care and roadside services. There are more than 5.6 million members in Canada and 1.9 million in south central Ontario.

Do I Really Need Travel Insurance?
Most people think they don’t need travel insurance until it is too late or when they have spent all of their money on things like medical expenses. If you think that Government Health Insurance plans has it covered, you may be surprised to find out that it may not cover your needs while traveling.

If you are still unsure if you need it, take a look at these case studies:

  • A 21-year-old traveled to Florida  and was hospitalized for 11 days due to a perforated ulcer. The claim amount was $110,988.
  • A 79-year-old visitor to the Dominican Republic had a fractured pelvis, which resulted in a claim  for $73,820.
  • Acute Appendicitis in a  56-year-old visiting China ended up costing $15,000.

A plan from CAA provides you with emergency medical expenses up to $5 million CAD and includes emergency dental, vision, hearing aid and death expenses. It will also provide non-medical emergency evacuation, a hospital allowance, medical repatriation, a subsistence allowance and coverage for the car or kennel costs for your pet. Family transportation, escort of children, vehicle return, terrorism coverage as well as medical follow-up in Canada are also included.

CAA Makes It Easy
Travel insurance through CAA can give you peace of mind and know that if anything should happen, that you will be covered. It is also very easy to use – all you have to do is make a quick phone call to CAA to let them know when you plan to travel and you will have immediate access to coverage.

Travel Insurance Plans
CAA offers annual plans of 15 or 30 days of coverage as well as daily plans. The easiest and best way to stay protected no matter where life takes you is to purchase one of the annual plans of 15 or 30 days. This allows you to use it whenever you need it throughout the year. Do you often take spontaneous trips or enjoy shopping just across the border? What if you have to travel because of a family emergency? The annual plans will make sure that you are covered, making it one less thing you have to worry about.

With Spring Break just around the corner, there are going to be a lot of people traveling, including college students. With an increase in the amount of people traveling at the same time, there is also an increase in the probability of an accident or illness. It also increases the likelihood of being injured while participating in sports or being on a crowded beach. Protect yourself and the ones you love by purchasing travel insurance from CAA.

    1. They are, aren’t they? So glad they have travel insurance policies just in case something happens.

    1. Better safe than sorry! The statistics were shocking to me, but in case anything happens I want my family to be protected.

    1. I love that they have something for everyone, too! They make it easy and quick which I just love because I’m always in a hurry!

  1. I love CAA too, they’ve definitely come to my rescue ALOT! I have used their travel insurance before and would continue to again. Thankfully I’ve never actually needed to USE it unlike my roadside assistance.

    1. I used to think that health insurance would pay for treatment needed no matter where I was, but now I realize that the service area is very limited! Now, I see the need for travel insurance and I don’t risk it because anything can happen!
