Best Toddler Travel Beds for Family Vacations

Make sure everyone gets a good night's sleep in their own space during family travel with these best toddler travel beds in every budget range!

So the time has come where your baby has outgrown the portacrib and you are in search of the best toddler travel beds for those upcoming family vacations or trips to grandma’s house.  At least that time has come for a friend of mine.  She visits her parents and like most of us, would like to avoid having her daughter sleep with her.  I don’t know how they do it, but I swear all kids are born with a special talent where they can take up an entire king size bed with just their tiny bodies!  Here are a few of my favorite toddler travel beds you can check out so everyone can try to get a decent night sleep.

Shrunks Indoor Inflatable Toddler Travel Beds

Shrunks Indoor Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed:  This is great for indoor use (or even outdoor, just don’t set it on rocks if you plan to sleep under the stars).  It folds up to only weigh about 7.7 pounds, but there is no room in the bag for the pumps, so you have to pack that separately.  You can also use the pump to deflate it as well. Different from your typical air mattress, this one has sides that are slightly raised so your child won’t fall out.  Sort of like built-in bed rails.  The listing price is around $80.00.

Regalo My Cot Deluxe Portable Toddler Travel Beds

Regalo My Cot Deluxe Portable Bed: This is great because it takes a half a second to unfold and voila, you have your bed and sleeping bag!  The sleeping bag is attached, but it also comes with a removeable pillow.  I actually had something similar for my daughter when we moved to Arizona from New Hampshire.  It took a week or so for her bed to come, she slept on this!  The frame of this one is made of steel and weighs a little less than 9 pounds.  It will hold your child until he is about 75 pounds, my guess is that is well past 6 years old.  For under $40 that is a good investment!

Aerobed Portable Toddler Travel Beds

Aerobed Mattress For Kids: Aerobed is a great company and they make a special toddler sized air mattress.  What makes it special is a 4 inch raised edge to keep your kids in the bed and not on the floor (which is where my daughter has been ending up lately).  It also comes with a thick fitted mattress pad, so your child will be super comfortable.  It comes with the pump you need to inflate and deflate.  The Aerobed won’t take up too much space or weight either, it only weighs about 1 pound.
There are so many options for our kids to sleep comfortably when we are away from home.  More than when I was a child.  I was given a blanket and a pillow and told to find a spot on the floor!  Wherever your travels take you, rest assured whichever travel toddler bed you choose, at least he won’t be sleeping with you.  What do you use when you travel with a small child who needs his own space to sleep?  Share your other toddler travel bed finds with us in the comments section below!

I’m been looking for something just like this for my 2 year old but they are hard to find. Thanks for the suggestions, now I have somewhere to start!

  2. I really like the Shrunks Indoor Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed best! Having side that are like bed rails would be really helpful. I know it’s not a big drop, but it would definitely help the kids stay asleep instead of waking up because they’ve tumbled out!
