You probably already know that Orlando, Florida is one of the best cities in the U.S. to visit with kids, right? You’ve probably heard that New York City has a crazy amount of fun to offer the kiddos, too. However, did you also know that U.S. cities like Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania also have great things to do and awesome places to eat that kids will love? Here are 5 U.S. cities to visit with kids, along with fun things to do in each place!

Top 5 U.S. Cities to Visit with Kids

1. Chicago, Illinois

The city of Chicago is in Cook County, Illinois, situated along Lake Michigan. The Chicago Children’s Museum is situated at the Navy Pier, featuring over a dozen exhibits. The Brookfield Zoo is set on 216 acres and features 2,300 animals, representing 450 animal species. Shake Shack has 3 locations in Chicago, with a menu featuring kid favorites like burgers, French fries and milkshakes.

2. Denver, Colorado

The city of Denver is in South Platte River Valley, Colorado. Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park features 53 rides, including 6 roller coasters, as well as a 20-acre water park that features 6 family-friendly waterslides and 8 thrill waterslides. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is 716,000-square-feet, featuring 12 exhibits, a 125-seat planetarium and a 440-seat IMAX Theater. The Fort Restaurant features dishes of the Old West, using ingredients such as beef, buffalo, game and seafood.

3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The coastal city of Myrtle Beach is in Horry County, South Carolina. The Family Kingdom Amusement Park, located on Ocean Boulevard, features close to 40 rides, an arcade, a midway and entertainment, including balloon sculptors, clowns and jugglers. Wild Water & Wheels features tons of attractions, like tube slides, a wave pool and bumper boats. Johnny D’s Waffles & Bakery serves breakfast and lunch, with their breakfast menu featuring premium omelets and homemade Belgian waffles.

4. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The city of Philadelphia is in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. The Please Touch Children’s Museum is in Fairmont Park. The museum features 12 permanent exhibits, including River Adventures and City Capers. Sesame Place is a kid’s theme park that is based on the television show, Sesame Street. The park features 19 rides, as well as live shows and entertainment. Square Burger, located in Franklin Square, features burgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut French fries and root beer floats.

5. Williamsburg, Virginia

The city of Williamsburg is in the Commonwealth of Virginia, on the Virginia Peninsula. Colonial Williamsburg is a living-history town, featuring historic buildings, 2 art museums, 6 hotel properties, 5 taverns, 3 casual restaurants, 7 modern dining establishments and more than 40 stores and shops. Busch Gardens is a 389-acre theme park, with more than 40 kid-friendly rides and attractions, 10 hamlets, 8 roller coasters, 2 animal attractions, 21 dining options and 22 souvenir shops. Shorty’s Diner features homemade dishes, including country fried steak, turkey bacon ranch wraps and old-fashioned malt milkshakes.

 

I have been to three out of these top five U.S. cities to visit with kids: Philadelphia, Williamsburg, and Chicago. All three offered something different and fun for kids! Denver and Myrtle Beach are super high on my list!
