Table Rock Welcome Centre

Make sure you visit the Table Rock Welcome Centre with your family. It’s a great place to launch your family’s quest for the touristy side of your visit. It’s close and easily walkable, but the lure is the view. It’s one of the best places to see the frothy falls, but dress warm during the winter! It’s so close you’ll endure lower temperatures.

Clifton Hill

Try indulging the main strip of Clifton Hill. You’ll find tourist attractions and restaurants beyond measure. High-end eateries offer an eclectic stew of British or French cuisine with plenty of seafood options. Tide and Vine Oyster House along with Queen Charlotte Tea Room are two popular choices that boast high ratings from reviewers and critics. Prices vary, but Queen Charlotte Team Room hovers more on the affordable side.

Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory

Make sure you check out the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory. It’s truly amazing to see these gorgeous and colorful butterflies flying freely. Have your kids wear a brightly colored shirt, and you’re likely to have one land on you. Hang around the feeding stations to see the most action. It’s toasty inside the conservatory as butterflies like the heat. Dress appropriately and enjoy the warmth during those winter months.

Bird Kingdom

If you are really into winged creatures, try Bird Kingdom. You and your family will encounter a vast array of species and even a reptile or two! Enjoy the quaint museum and explore the sanctuary. The kingdom is not a zoo, and the birds fly freely. You can even feed a lorikeet.

Queen Victoria Park

Don’t forget to hit Queen Victoria Park, while enjoying the beauty of Niagara Falls. Best seen in the summer, the park is a grassy haven that stretches along Niagara Parkway and looks onto both the American and Horseshoe Falls. If you go in the winter, bundle up and enjoy the lights strewn about the park.

Niagara SkyWheel

If you aren’t afraid of heights, take a ride on the Niagara SkyWheel. You and your family will enjoy breathtaking views of Niagara without getting soaked by the spray. Time the ride early in the morning or in the cooler evening hours. The gondolas heat up and the enclosed cars can be toasty.

House of Frankenstein

Enter, if you dare! If your family seeks thrills (but not the kind that involves heights!), check out this super cool house of horrors. Don’t worry, while it’s spooky, it’s actually family-friendly and a huge hit with kids. If your children are super sensitive to scares, you might want to skip it. Otherwise, give it a tour! Admission is under $8 per person, and kids 6 and under are free.

There are so many wonderful things to do on a family trip to Niagara Falls besides donning a poncho and riding along the foaming water. Try exploring the parks, and stepping outside the touristy comfort zone. You’ll be amazed how much fun you can have just walking and hiking through the gorgeous area.
