Dreaming of getting away to the warm, sunny Bahamas? You’re not the only one! Check out my ultimate Bahama Islands bucket list to help you plan the perfect family vacation!
I am sure that I’m not the only one dreaming of travelling to the warm and sunny Islands of The Bahamas during the cold and dreary months ahead. These are a few of the things I would like to do; my “bucket list” if you will, of activities on Eleuthera and Harbour Island.
My Eleuthera / Harbour Island, Bahamas Bucket List
Pink Sand Beaches
Every time I see a photo of beautiful pink sand beaches, I am desperate to see them for myself. They just look so amazing and intriguing to me. I LOVE the beach so all kinds of sand and ocean settings appeal to me. Eleuthera Island has 35 miles of pink sand beaches. What could be more dream-worthy than that?
Pineapple Capital of the World
Eleuthera boasts having some of the sweetest pineapples in the entire world. Pineapple farming on the island began in the 18th century and they even have a festival each June to celebrate this time-honored tradition. I love pineapple. It is my favourite fruit and I have always been curious about how they are grown but particularly how they’re harvested. I think traveling to one of the many pineapple farms would be a fantastic day trip for me!
New England Architecture
Most of Harbour and Eleuthera Island was influenced by the influx of Loyalist settlers in the late 1700’s. Their presence is evident today in the architecture of the island. It is reminiscent of the New England style and the quaint narrow streets are quite similar to that of the New England region in the United States. On my many trips to New England, I must admit, I found myself quite fascinated with the adorable features of the society there. The buildings, town layouts, and even the parks, all have a distinctive style all their own. I think this would be a major bucket list item for me on Harbour and Eleuthera Island. I would love to see the similarities and differences while enjoying the scenery.
Coral Reefs
Eleuthera and Harbour Island are home to some massive coral reefs. All the beautiful undersea creatures and plant life were just absolutely breathtaking. I would LOVE to be able to go on a snorkeling trip on Eleuthera and Harbour Island.
A great thing about Eleuthera and Harbour Island is their proximity to the other islands. Nearby islands include Grand Bahama Island, Exuma and Nassau. This puts them within range for a non-stop flight from many Canadian cities, which is, only approximately 3 hours away from Toronto via airplane. If you do fly into Nassau, it’s easy to grab same-day connections to many of the other Bahamian islands. And to make your lives even easier, Travelzoo is currently offering amazing deals to The Bahamas as we speak!
