I had the opportunity to stay at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine (Dallas) for 4 nights. It was in late April, during the Blissdom Conference! I have never visited the resort, as I’ve never been to Dallas. I didn’t even look at the hotel pictures when I booked. I wanted the full surprise (like a child).
The hotel is not far from the DFW airport, only about 9 miles. You can take a cab (costs around $25) or a shuttle ($11). I chose the cheapest option. I wasn’t in a hurry so I didn’t mind the stops that the shuttle was making.
How was my stay at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center?
I arrived on a Wednesday evening! The staff was friendly and the check in was fast! My room was ready!
It is a nice spacious room with the usual amenities: a TV, a fridge, a safe, coffee machine and refills! The bed is comfortable and the bedding is luxurious. Room service is offered but I didn’t have the opportunity to try it! I did have a slight problem with my safe and the hotel staff fixed it promptly! (Was very appreciated). The room had a nice balcony with a gorgeous view of a lake.
The hotel has several restaurants and coffee shop!
The first day I tried the Tex-Mex restaurant/bar! It is a nice restaurant with a HUGE TV Screen!
I tried to sit in the cushy chairs in front of the screen but I am not used to eat in that type of chair! So I switched to a regular one. The food is moderate and quite expensive! I am not a huge fan of this type of food but I was hungry and it was the first restaurant I saw.
The Italian Restaurant
I highly recommend this one! It is a bit pricey, but that is standard for this kind of resort. It opened for lunch and dinner. The food is delicious, service is top notch! The dining area is very nice. You can eat inside or outside. My friends and I chose outside dining option. The hotel offers such a gorgeous garden! We wanted to enjoy it. I had this salmon avocado. Simply delicious
The third restaurant, I don’t recall its name! It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner! You can eat inside and outside. Again we chose to eat outside because the hotel has so much to offer. Look that view behind me. I had some fish!
I tried their egg Benedictine. It is the first time I eat one with meat but I guess it is a Texan tradition.
I also had this avocado pizza for lunch! It was an original taste! I enjoyed it!
Overall the restaurants are good!

Recommendation: a very nice hotel for business, a romantic getaway or visit with kids.
