Take a Family Vacation in Texas for the Adventure of a Lifetime + $1,000 Giveaway

Texas is such an exciting family vacation destination for Canadians! I had the chance to visit the Lone Star State a couple of years ago for a conference. While I flew solo for that vacation. I’m definitely looking forward to returning with my family in the near future! Everyone was so friendly down there and the food was simply amazing!

What to do on a Family Vacation in Texas

Since I was alone and attending a conference, I didn’t get to see nearly as much of Texas as I wanted to see. Of course, with 7 geographical regions, each with incredibly different landscapes, even if I spent a month there, I wouldn’t see everything. Did you know that Texas has everything from beaches to forests, from rolling hills to canyons? It’s really a remarkable, changing landscape from border to border. Plus, it’s a dream come true for families who love hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, fishing and more.

I’m having so much fun exploring the Texas Tourism website coming up with ideas for places to go on a family vacation in Texas! Take a look at a few places on my dream itinerary!

Museum Reach, San Antonio

Isn’t that just a stunning view? Museum Reach is part of the San Antonio Riverwalk. It was added in 2009 and features walking paths that weave through gorgeous landscaping and public art displays. The Riverwalk itself is one of Texas’ coolest attractions. It has everything from luxury hotels to theme parks, making it a must-add to any itinerary for a family vacation in Texas.

This one requires a bit of planning, as you’ll need to go when it’s happening. This year, it’s going on during July 21-26th in Longview. It looks like such a beautiful event to attend, though! Imagine seeing all those stunning hot air balloon floating off into the blue Texas sky!

You can’t plan a family Vacation to Texas without checking out at least some of the 600 miles of coastline and beaches! Galveston is an island with plenty of beautiful beaches, including several that are ideal for families. When you’re done relaxing in the sun, hit the Galveston Island Historical Pleasure Pier for shopping, dining and thrill rides!

Big Bend Country

My family loves hiking and exploring, so a family vacation to Texas wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Big Bend Country! The region is pretty huge, so it would take days to explore this destination. I think we’d start in the Big Bend National Park, since it has just about everything a hiking family could ask for. I hear they even found a fossil of a 50-foot crocodile there!

Narrowing down the choices of wonderful things to do on a family vacation in Texas was incredibly difficult. The state is just so rich with incredible activities and destinations that everyone in my family will enjoy. Are you ready to plan your trip?

  1. I’ve never been to Texas before. However, the hubs will be going for officer training for the Army in the coming months so I’ll be able to visit :)
