Gulf County: Your Adventure Awaits!
No matter what type of adventure your family craves, you’ll find it in Gulf County. One thing that makes it so different from other family vacation destinations is the easy access to all different types of water. From the impressive Gulf of Mexico to the saltwater of St. Joseph Bay to biologically diverse swamps and freshwater lakes, the region offers your family the chance to explore the diversity of nature. Not sure what to do once you get there? Ask a local! The residents of Gulf County are incredibly passionate about all the adventures in their home and they’re happy to share their tips with you! While you’re visiting, you’ll get a taste of the small-town life of an old mill town. GCFL residents love being outside and it shows. Now is the perfect time to visit this gorgeous area on a family vacation! While other areas are winding down after summer, GCFL is getting ready for their prime time! Visit between mid-August through mid-March for some of the best adventures! Every time I check out the Gulf County Adventure Guide, I find something new that I want to try!
More Wonder, More Surprise, Fresh Adventure in Gulf County, Florida
There are so many things I want to do in Gulf County, it’s hard to narrow it down to just a few! Of course, I could do the same thing several times and always get a different experience. Remember, GCFL is all about nature, and the landscape is constantly changing. One day you might head out on a kayak and see one type of bird, and the next you could discover a stunning school of fish hanging out! This is what’s on my current Adventure list.
Kayak on the Dead Lakes
I am fascinated by the Dead Lakes in Wewahitchka, FL! I’d love to take one of the “Off the Map Expeditions” through them. They have guided kayak tours that take you and your family through the incredible, mysterious water. It would be so cool to see all the reptiles and fish that call the lake home. I love that this type of expedition is tailored for my family’s needs and wants.
Watch the Sunset Over the Cape
Honestly, I’d be happy just to stand on a beach and catch one of these glorious sunsets, but can you imagine seeing it from a boat? You could take a sunset cruise! I can’t think of a better place to watch the sky light up in shades or orange and red than in Gulf County. You’ll be treated to completely unobstructed views of our brightest star lowering over the Gulf.
Visit Constitution Convention Museum State Park
If your family loves history as much as mine does, a visit to the Constitution Convention Museum State Park is a must! Did you know that Florida’s first constitution was drafted in St. Joseph? The view leading up to the museum is just stunning. Spend the day outdoors enjoying the fresh air, then head inside for a self-guided tour of all the exhibits and learn more about the history of Florida! Of course, there are tons of other fabulous activities for your family vacation in Gulf County. From fishing and scalloping to swimming and biking, you’ll never run out of adventures. When you’re ready to relax, you’ll find plenty of ways to do that, too! Everything is at your pace, so you never have to feel rushed!
Still not sure what you want to do? The Gulf County Concierge Program that makes it even easier to plan my trip. Want to check out what’s on my latest itinerary? Just fill out the form and a GCFL resident will help you plan your vacation. You’ll get an inside look at the ideas on your list from a local who knows all the best spots to go.
