Genius Swiffer Hacks
Sock hack
You can use socks to make your Swiffer mop and duster pads. You should use chenille (which you can pick up at most dollar stores) since they pick up dirt and dust with ease. Just place the sock over the Swiffer and mop and dust as usual. When the sock gets dirty, just toss it in the washing machine, and you can reuse it.
Cloth diaper hack
Instead of using a sock as a Swiffer mop and duster pad, use a cloth diaper instead. Cloth diapers are a perfect size and fit like a glove on a Swiffer sweeper. This is a great way to reuse those cloth diapers that your baby outgrew and get more mileage for your money. Don’t have any cloth diapers? You can also use cut-up dishtowels instead.
Make your solution
Why spend money on those Swiffer Wet Jet solution refills when you can make your own at home for much less? Just poke a hole in the bottom of the solution bottle and fill with a solution of 50% water, 50 vinegar and 3 drops of dish soap.
Just flip it over
Just because one side of your Swiffer mop pad is dirty, doesn’t mean the other side is. Many people don’t think of this, but all you have to do is flip the mop pad over and use the other side.
Wash and reuse
Who says that you have to toss your Swiffer pads and dusters after using them? All you need for this hack are some mesh laundry bags. Next time you do a load of laundry of any kind, toss the Swiffer mop heads and dusters in a mesh laundry bag and do your laundry as usual. You can do this for several cleanings.
These tricks to save money on Swiffer refills will have you back in business and using your mop in your favorite cleaning and organizing hacks once again!

I think I bought refills once for our swiffer. I use old towels that I have cut to size, and find them perfect for picking up dog hair, particularly right after they have come out of the dryer. For washing the floor, I’ve been using the vinegar & water solution for years. It seems everything is made disposable these days, and only if you can save money are people interested in reusing something.
My son is a big swiffer lover. He’d love these hacks.
These are awesome ideas. Refills can be pricey if you keep on buying them and these suggestions are perfect. I like that you can use cloth diapers because you can just wash them and use again. So convenient.
I didn’t know that you can use them for several times, that’s great. I can definitely save more money if I just toss them in the laundry after use. Thanks for these suggestions, they are worth trying!
These are great ideas! I will be trying some of these at home 🙂
Great ideas, who would have thought old socks can have so many uses?! I’m going to try them, thank you!
