The metallic look is one of the hottest home decor trends this season. Silver, gold and bronze are showing up in everything from paint to pillows. Obviously, decorating an entire room with precious metals isn’t exactly budget-friendly! I think when it comes to metallic home decor odeas, though, a little goes a very long way. Too much ends up making the room feel cold and sterile. Take a look at my favorite items that let you get in on the metallic home decor trend without spending an arm and a leg.

Paint accents: You don’t have to paint an entire room a metallic color to get in on the home décor trend (although silver is a great wall color in my opinion). Just add a few accents with metallic paint that complement your existing color.  I love the look of burgundy and silver. Red and gold also go well together. As for accents, try painting the trim of the room. Small, widely-spaced vertical stripes look nice too and can make a short ceiling look taller.

Metallic Lamps: Chances are, you already have a metallic lamp base somewhere in your house. Dust it off and bring it back out, but update the look with a new lampshade. The Silver Floor Lamp with Vine Detailing from Home Depot is my favorite. It’s beautiful without being cold.

Throw pillows: Pillows are definitely the easiest way to give your sofa or chairs a metallic face lift! I love the Metallic Weave throw pillows from Sears because it comes in four different colors. The silver is my favorite! I really like how the metals are muted, not shiny and so obvious. Plus they look comfy, don’t they? The best part about pillows: you can mix and match. Like, the silver and gold go nice together during the holiday season!

Wall Art: All it takes to get in on the metallic home decor trend is one great piece of wall art. Art is an entirely subjective experience, so you have to decide which piece is right for you. I personally love the metal scroll wall art above, because it’s simple yet elegant.

Metal Clock: If you’re not really a wall art type of person, get in on the metallic home decor trend with a fun metal clock instead. Not only is it practical (we all need to know what time it is!) but it also makes a beautiful statement.

As you can see, it’s easy to give your house a metallic home decor makeover without going mad as a Hatter with heavy metal overload. Just grab a few elements and incorporate it into your existing home decor.

  1. i am loving the metallic look and have been trying to add a few details to my living room as well. So far as far as I have gotten are a few great silver metallic ornaments, candle holders. I have them all arranged in two deep trays…on on my coffee table and one on an ikea stand in the living room. I have been on the lookout for a metallic sunburst mirror but no luck yet. I love love love the clock you added to your post
