Button replacement

Have you ever had a button that you are keeping sewing on but it just keeps coming off? It has probably happened to all of us at some time or another. Next time you have to sew that button back on, use dental floss rather than thread. The floss is stronger than the thread so it will hold the button better.

Fishing line

Next time you head out fishing, bring along some dental floss in your fishing kit. If you happen to break your fishing line while you are fishing, use the dental floss as a replacement.

Clothes line

Next time you head out camping or on a business trip, make sure you have some dental floss with you. Why you ask? Well, if for some reason you need to hang up some clothes to dry, dental floss makes an instant clothesline.

Temporary shoelace

Shoelaces break at one time or another. And while it can be annoying, there is a temporary trick you can do. Use some dental floss as a replacement for the shoelace until you can get a shoelace replacement.

Picture hanger

Need an easy method to hang pictures on your wall? Use dental floss. Just cut a piece of dental floss that is slightly longer than the frame, affix with some thumbtacks and hang.

Ponytail holder

If you have long hair, hair ties or scrunches are a huge necessity. However, what happens when you lose or break your current hair tie? Dental floss to the rescue, of course. All you need is a short piece of dental floss to make a ponytail.

Faucet fixer

Have a leaking faucet in your home that is starting to get annoying? You can silence that annoying drip by using dental floss. Just tie some floss around the opening and allow to dangle in the sink. The water will drip quietly slide down the floss.

There you go! One roll of floss, many uses! Who knew, right? Well, now you do! Want to save even more time and money? Check out our favorite organizing hacks to bust clutter!

  1. I am in love with the drip faucet method! This is a fantastic idea. I’ll be sure to keep it in mind when we have another.

  2. >Use some dental floss as a replacement for the shoelace until you can get a shoelace replacement.

You’d look pretty weird using dental floss as shoe laces, and I’m pretty sure dental floss is going to break pretty easily if you don’t tread extremely carefully, but I guess technically it could work (for a little while, at least) if you’re really in a pinch… lol

  3. Wow great usage for dental floss. Im impressed with its feature—like making it as your ponytail? Haha I’ll have an instant fresh and minty scented hair.

  4. Dental floss really is a very versatile tool! I always have a container of it in my purse, and now I know how to use it in more ways than one if need be!
