Staying healthy when your family is sick isn't an easy task, but our 5 cleaning hacks will help you stay on top of those bugs! Check them out! Keeping your family healthy is not easy any time of the year, but I have found this year extra tough. With the temperatures changing from snow to spring in the same week, everyone seems to be catching a cold. My daughter has had the stomach flu, and my husband was sick with a strange fever that disappeared within twenty four hours. Meanwhile I keep my secret weapons handy.

How To Stay Healthy When Your Family Is Sick

So lucky me, I have not been sick once.  Nope, I didn’t even catch the stomach flu that worked its way around my daughter’s preschool. Are you trying to protect yourself from getting sick when everyone around you is dropping like flies? Here are my secret weapons to be the last one standing!

Keep The Toilet Clean

When you are not feeling well, the bathroom can be a real hazard for germs. Keeping the toilet bowl clean is one of my priorities during cold and flu season. My favorite cleaner is Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner Clinging Bleach Gel. I like how the gel clings to the bowl so I can tell that every spot gets clean!

Clean Or Replace Your Toothbrush

Several times a day you load your toothbrush with toothpaste and clean your pearly whites. Your toothbrush is a perfect place for germs to hide, especially if your whole family keeps their toothbrushes in the same place! Try disinfecting your toothbrush in the dishwasher, or if you can, replace them more frequently to keep germs at bay.

Keep Your Cleaning Supplies Stocked

A regular cleaning routine will help keep your family free from illness. Keep your cleaning supplies well stocked to make your life easier to clean quickly. My favorite secret weapon is to keep Clorox Citrus Blend Disinfecting Wipes in key places like the bathroom, the kitchen and near the trashcans so I can disinfect these areas quickly every time I think about it.

Wash Household Items More Often

Don’t forget to stock up on your laundry soap! Washing items like hand towels, bed sheets and kitchen towels more frequently helps keep my family from passing germs back and forth to each other. I realize different people have different tolerances for washing these items, but cold season is definitely the time to wash them more frequently to help keep everyone healthier.

Keep Winter Sludge Outside

I love winter snow and sports that go along with it, but a lot of sludge, salt and yuck come in on our boots and winter gear. I find that by keeping my entryway and mudroom clean and tidy, we all get sick less. Clean away that wet sludge with Pine-Sol Multi-Surface Cleaner. I find it’s the perfect solution for keeping both the underside of my boots, my floor and all of our other surfaces fresh and clean. Then I can keep the germs outside where they belong!
