Of all the room in my house in need of organizing hacks, my bedroom cries out the loudest! I need a sanctuary, not a storage room for overflow from the rest of the house! Check out these bedroom organization hacks to finally get the retreat you deserve.

Of all the areas in my house, my bedroom is most in need of organizing hacks. You’d think it would be the easiest to keep clean. After all, I pretty much only sleep and get dressed in there! Somehow, though, it gets out of control faster than any other room in the house. Between the clothes I wear and the clothes I’m really, truly planning to wear someday; the books I’m reading, the books I read and the books I’m seriously going to get around to; and all the other random stuff that just ends up in there, it’s a disaster area! I’m finally getting it under control with these great bedroom organization hacks. Who wants to join me?

Color coordinate your closet

By color coordinating the clothes in your closet, you are ensuring that it all stays organized. Or at least that is the plan anyways. Just take everything out of the closet, then add in clothing by color. Start with and blacks first, then browns, then grays and then whites. These are considered neutral colors. Next, organize the rest by colors like purples, blues, reds, etc. Doesn’t it look pretty?

Keep your bedding organized

Want an easy trick to keep your bedding organized? Take a pillowcase and stuff it with the sheets that match it. That way, everything is together, and you don’t have to look for matching bedding. Squish it all down into one of those vacuum-sealed bags to maximize storage of off-season linens.

Create a nightstand from a ladder

Nightstands are handy pieces of furniture, but they can take up quite a bit of room in your bedroom. So, take advantage of the space you have by using a stepladder instead of a traditional nightstand. Worried about how it looks? You can always paint it, or cover the steps with contact paper.

Store things on ceiling shelves

What better way to keep your bedroom organized than with shelves. Put up ceiling shelves in the bedroom, making the room look more organized. You can store books and knick-knacks on the shelves. We don’t take enough advantage of all that space over our heads. Just don’t hang them directly over the bed. I don’t care how safe they are and how carefully you bolt them into the right spots, I’d still be afraid to sleep under a shelf of books!

Store items under your bed

You have all the empty space under your bed that isn’t being used. So, why not use it to store items you don’t use every day. Use baskets and cubbies to store items like bedding. You can get those little risers to create even more space under your bed. If you have the budget for it, get yourself one of those bed frames that comes with drawers already in them. Although, honestly, I think you might get more out of the space under your bed with traditional underbed storage bins. Those drawers don’t always go all the way to the middle of the bed.

Add a storage chest to the foot of your bed

By placing a storage chest at the foot of your bed, you can not only make your room look more charming, but you can use it for storage as well. You can use a storage chest to store items such as linens, seasonal, items and blankets.

Frame your bed in shelves

Of all the room in my house in need of organizing hacks, my bedroom cries out the loudest! I need a sanctuary, not a storage room for overflow from the rest of the house! Check out these bedroom organization hacks to finally get the retreat you deserve.

Another great idea: instead of a traditional headboard, frame your bed in those little storage cubes. Just build up, then get a long one that can go across the length of your bed, then build down the other side. Kind of like the picture above from Amazon, except you can use a DIY approach and save thousands.

These are just a few of my favorite bedroom organization hacks to help tame all that clutter. One of the most important “hacks” isn’t really a hack at all, though. Stop treating your room like a dumping ground for the overflow in your house and start treating it like the retreat that it is. Make it your sanctuary!
