New year’s Resolutions?

By: Ourfamilyworld

Every end of the year, for as long as I remember, I have reviewed and evaluated the past year and then made resolutions and set goals for the coming year. Most of the time, I was not happy in what I have actually completed during the year. Why is that?

Believe me, I was serious, determined when I made my resolutions. But I did not fulfill them. Why? I found out that I made unrealistic, immeasurable and unachievable resolutions. I wanted to lose 20 pounds in 1 month, become rich, do exercise 5 times a week (Hard when you have young kids and work a 9 to 5 job). I found that I made resolutions once a year and I always find excuses not to work on them.

So I stopped making New Year’s resolutions. Not because I don’t want to improve as a person, but because it was not working for me. If I feel like something’s not working for me, I’d look to change it straight away.  It’s hard but  made feel much better.

I came out with these few things that helped me fulfill my goals :

1- Write your vision and goals down. Post it in appropriate places so that you see your vision before you at all times – next to your computer screen, on the bath mirror, on the refrigerator.

2. Read it loud at least twice a day with emotion and belief. Read it once when you rise so that your vision is the guiding force for the day, midday to get back on track and once before you sleep so that the unconscious mind works its magic based upon your vision.

3. Keep happy and positive thoughts around you. Give up watching TV, reading a newspaper or listening to the news for a few days.

4. Talk to your loved ones or friends, . Share your vision with them or let them help you fine tune it.

5-Try to eat more fruits and vegetables. Junk food make you feel guilty and feel you are not achieving your goal

6- Try to exercise each day : It could be a 10mn walk, using the stairs instead of the elevators.

7.  Take action every day, don’t drop it out, make sure it gets done. Each step is essential and vital.

But the most important thing : Don’t set unrealistic goals.
