Swimsuits for pregnant women have come a long way, baby! There are so many to choose from. While maternity swimsuits tend to be a bit pricier than regular swimsuits, the comfort, durability, and stretch-ability are all well worth it! Here are some tips on how to choose comfortable swimsuits for pregnant women that are still flattering and stylish.
Choosing Swimsuits for Pregnant Women
Choose dark colours
We all know that dark colours have a slimming effect. Choose dark colours, such as navy blue or black like this simple, sleek swimsuit.
Emphasize the bust
One of your best assets when you’re pregnant is your bust. Emphasize it with an empire waist. Most maternity swimwear also have nice, thick straps to support your bust.
Consider a two-piece
Because you seem to be going to the bathroom every hour when you’re pregnant, consider a practical two-piece. A tankini can be much more comfortable and is a great, modest alternative to a bikini.
Maternity AND nursing suit
Make another practical choice with a swimsuit for pregnant women that will come in handy after the birth! A maternity swimsuit that is designed for nursing your baby afterward can be so useful. Going to the pool weekly after baby is born is a great outing for the new mother-baby couple and this suit is so cute!
Stylish and Funky
Try something stylish, funky, and fun. Check out this convertible swimsuit which can tie at the bottom for a skirt look, or emphasize the bust with a cute tie up underneath. If your favourite colour is purple, this is the one for you!
Strapless and Sexy
Do you feel sexier because you’re pregnant, or want to feel sexier than pregnancy makes you feel? Try a sexy little strapless number. You can’t beat the price of this one!
Show it Off
Proud of your baby belly? Show it all off in a bikini. This one, with the roll waist can be so comfy, and you don’t have to worry about anything fitting over your widening girth!
Swim dress
Not ready to show it all off? Go for ultra coverage with a beautiful swim dress.
What is your favourite swimsuit style for pregnancy? My maternity swimsuit was so incredibly comfy that I still wear it, years later! Did you get the chance to wear your suit again? Let me know in the comments!
These are the cutest one pieces! I also would dare to wear the bikini featured here!
I love seeing moms-to-be baring their beautiful pregnant bellies – I wish I had dared to bare!
How Adorable Are These Love Them All Thank You!
I really like the swim dress! So cute. I was pregnant in the summer with my first son, but I was a 19 year old college student and didn’t have the money to buy a maternity swim suit. I was already a single mom without any support from the bio so I was saving what little money I had so that I could buy things for the baby.
I love the swim dress, too. I think my next suit may be a swim dress :)
Wish they had cute suits like these when I was pregnant. We had a pool and I ended up wearing the same terrible suit each time.
The choices get better and better by the year!
I love that sailor suit! I was pregnant during the winter and only made it to the beach once, a few weeks before giving birth. I didn’t want to spend money on a suit, since it was just that one time, so I ended up getting a skirted plus size suit off a sales rack. It worked, but it didn’t fit at all well…so uncomfortable! I probably should’ve just gone with shorts and a tank. If I’m pregnant during the summer next time, I will invest in a maternity swimsuit.
I didn’t end up in the pool much before my first birth, but when I was pregnant with my second, I was taking my firstborn to swim so it was a necessity!
Great guide, I chose a tankini suit during my pregnancy. I felt very comfy in it! I envy those women who have the guts to wear a bikini.
Tankinis were just coming into vogue when I was pregnant with my first child – I wish I would have got one back then.
