Today, we are sharing with you some pregnancy fashion for your first trimester! It’s such an exciting time, isn’t it? Your pregnancy test showed positive, you found an OB-GYN and had a successful first appointment. Congratulations! You’re going to be a mom and I bet so many thoughts are running through your head.
The first trimester can be a tricky one. Most women don’t want to share the news until they are well into their fourth month. You want to take all the precautionary steps in prenatal care and be extra careful with what you do, eat, etc.
In terms of wardrobe changes, just like any other aspects of pregnancy, it will be different for every woman. Some may only see major weight gain and body changes well into their 20th week. Others experience bloating right from the get-go (like yours truly!), making everything feel tighter and a little less comfortable. These ideas for pregnancy fashion will keep you comfy in your first trimester no matter how your body changes. We hope these items will get you excited for what’s to come (and can hopefully grow with you as you progress throughout your pregnancy).

Maternity Bottoms
As mentioned above, bloating in early pregnancy is a common symptom. Many women opt out of purchasing maternity-wear because of their high ticket prices. We suggest that if you are going to invest in maternity clothes, then bottoms would be the place to start (they grow with you throughout your pregnancy and are generally very comfortable). Here are a few that caught our eyes.
These ultra skinny jeans come in two great washes and are highly recommended by moms nationwide. Its “secret fit belly” garter will follow you through your entire pregnancy and has a U.S. patent on it.
Leggings are an absolute essential for pregnancy-wear and these ones are great for fashion and exercise. It features a crossover panel which will help you grow into it as your belly gets larger. With its 4-way stretch, you can rest assured that these leggings will stay intact no matter what movements you’ll be making. Perfect as sportswear or casual wear.
These structured maternity pants are great for the office. We love that there are both front and back pockets (a feature that many maternity pants lack). With its boot-leg cut, these pants would work great with a kitten heel: perfect for keeping up with your “professional” look!
Bootcut jeans in a light wash are a staple in any closet – make sure to make it a staple in your maternity wardrobe! We love the way this pair has a fade on the thighs and how it’s slim at the hip to give you the most flattering figure possible.
Peasant Tops
Peasant tops are great for everyday wear. However, they can also be dressed up for a more formal look. We love the ideas of loose-fitting ones that allow for some extra room for maximum comfort.
This long-sleeved number is simple and sophisticated. It can be dressed up with a few pieces of costume jewelry and other accessories.
Lucky Brand is best known for their use of high-quality materials and beautiful peasant tops. We love the print and details on this one.
We’re totally digging the sleeves on this beautiful blouse. Overall, it carries a soft, feminine and whimsical look. We love the fact that it’s made of a more sheer material, giving you the chance to layer camisoles underneath, where you can add a pop of color to an otherwise neutral palette.
Shift Dresses
Shift dresses hold great structure but aren’t too constricting: perfect for when you’re expecting!
The details on this dress are just breathtaking. The sheer overlay gives it an airy look and makes it more comfortable.
If you’re looking for something a bit more casual, then this dress is totally the right fit! Lightweight and simple, the x-back straps give it some subtle character. Pair it with a jean jacket and you’ve got yourself an easy-to-wear outfit that’s super comfortable and ultra cute!
We love the off-the-shoulder detail on this shift dress. Also, since it is a straight-cut, it gives you more wiggle room and you will totally appreciate the comfort as your baby bump develops.
Sweaters and Kimonos
Sweaters and kimonos are ideal for layering, especially when the temperatures start to drop. We find that longer, open-cut ones are easy to wear and are elongating and flattering.
This kimono is made of a feather-light fabric and features a beautiful pattern. Great to wear with jeans or leggings.
Layer this sleeveless chiffon cardigan with a turtleneck on nippier days or a t-shirt for a more casual look. We love that it’s a “maxi” cut, providing your outfit with good length.
This cardigan features a high-low hemline that’s great to wear with either jeans, dress pants or a skirt. We adore its delicate pattern – the colors used on this number are just so beautiful!
Available in four colors, this long cardigan is lightweight and perfect for chillier days. Dress it up with a few accessories and use it for layering when it’s too warm for a coat but too cold for just a t-shirt.
These are such cute outfits. These women don’t even look pregnancy yet with the way these are tailored
Is it bad that I’d wear all of these NOW because they look so comfy. And I’m not pregnant ;) lol
I wish my daughter would have seen this when she was pregnant. The shift dresses look so nice! They’re so girly-girl. The jeans look nice and comfy too.
These are all really great choices for those in their first trimester. I especially love the dresses. So pretty.
These are so cute and stylish! I wish I have these dresses when I was pregnant!
Where was this post during my six pregnancies? I literally didn’t know what to wear during that awkward bloaty phase and these outfits are adorable.
These are such great looks! It’s nice to see that maternity wear has come a long way since I was pregnant. There just weren’t very many stylish options back then, so today’s mama’s are lucky!
I am so mad at myself for not hunting harder and looking into more maternity fashions during all of my pregnancies. My last one I did and bought some amazing dresses, first time i wore dresses ever and I’d never been more comfortable! These all look great!
Those clothes are so cute. I used to love wearing peasant tops when I was pregnant.
Shoot, I never got to wear anything like this. haha So cute though!
I LOVE these outfits! I hope I look like that if I ever get pregnant! haha
The first trimester is so hard to dress for. I like the idea of shift dresses, especially for a hot summer pregnancy.
I may not be pregnant, but I am all about comfort, so these pieces are still right up my alley. I am especially loving that sleeveless cardigan!
I would think first trimester fashion would be easy since you are barely showing, but hey what do I know lol. I think as you grow definitely the pants department needs to be more comfier.
Many of these items are familiar as that’s what I was dealing with last fall! Comfortable pants were key to getting through the first trimester.
These are all great, stylish and comfortable looking outfits for the first trimester. I am sure there are a lot of ladies out there who will appreciate this post.
Great looks and great suggestions. The pants are always the first thing to stop fitting correctly.
There’s no denying that we always choose comfort over style but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice one for the other! I really like the clothes that you have here! Everything’s lovely!
