Manage & Monitor Your Whole Home from Anywhere With Nexia Home Intelligence

This post is brought to you by Nexia Home Intelligence.

Monitor just about your entire home- from lights to thermostats- from anywhere in one handy app on your smartphone or your PC with Nexia Home Intelligence!

Ever forget to turn on your porch lights and  then come home to a dark house? I have. Or turned  your thermostat up because you didn’t want to cool the house while on vacation, only to swelter for hours when you come home? Done that too!

These days, we have smart home systems designed manage our thermostats or lights. We also have systems that let us check in on our pets, monitor our kids and even make sure the garage door is closed after we’ve left for work. Nexia Home Intelligence, however, has found a way to tie together just about every automated smart home process into one handy app.

Nexia Home Intelligence: The Smartest of the Smart Home Systems

Nexia Home Intelligence begins with a bridge, which communicates with all the devices in your home. Sign up for a Nexia account, plug in your bridge to your router and wall outlet, then let the two discover each other like soul mates across the web.

Once you’ve added your bridge to your account, you can add all your other Nexia-compatible devices. Everything from security cameras to thermostat controls to lightbulbs can be controlled from your dashboard on your PC or your smartphone app.

I had a chance to try out a few different neat Nexia-compatible devices. My favorite is the Nexia HD Indoor Security Camera. It lets you record HD 720p resolution video in your house for live streaming or recording to watch later. With its infrared vision, it can even see at night.

My son Jacob wanted me to mount it in the hallway and let him monitor it, so I could never sneak up on him. This came after I managed to sneak up and scare him twice in one night. We have an ongoing game to see who can scare the other the most often. He already has an unfair advantage with his ninja-like skills, so I said no way.

I picked a more central location that has a pretty good view of my front door, that way I can see if burglars are sneaking in! With the spot I picked, someone would have to walk past it to get to me upstairs. No more worrying that the sound I heard is someone coming to get me! I have a VERY active imagination in the middle of the night.

The motion sensors (pictured right) are a great addition to your Nexia Home Intelligence security solution. Set them up throughout your home to make sure no one is moving in there when they shouldn’t be. I have a lot of pets upstairs, but I worry about people sneaking around in my garage (I told you, active imagination), so I put a few in there. It’s not just people I worry about, though. We had feral cats get stuck in there too! Even my own kitten managed to sneak down and get locked in for a couple of hours!

Of course, Nexia Home Intelligence isn’t just for home security. You can add other fun things, like, blinds and shades that rise and fall on a timer and even sprinkler systems for your lawn. Whatever you choose to add, once you have your bridge set up, you just follow the directions to help your new device and your Nexia Bridge make friends, then use your dashboard to ensure that it’s all in working order!

You’ll also find tips and news on your dashboard, along with all sorts of compatible products under each category. I found it very helpful! Using the dashboard itself is free. However, if you want to automate different tasks, you’ll need the Nexia subscription, which costs $9.99 a month.

I actually had fun setting up my Nexia Home Intelligence System. I love technology and it was just exciting for me to decide where to put everything. I also like to monitor things from my dashboard. Makes me feel like my home is a secret lair! Every girl needs a lair. Now I just need to get me some minions to do the laundry. If only Nexia could help me automate the folding process!

Visit NexiaHome.com  to learn more about the different products available in the Home Intelligence system. While you’re there, you’ll find links to download the app in the App Store, Google Play or the Windows Phone Store and take a tour.

Having a home system like this is SO handy! We’ve been working on expanding ours, so I’ll pass this information along to my husband. But with the little bit we’ve done so far, it has really paid off those times when my daughter came home and didn’t have her house key. A quick call to my husband and he can open the garage door for her using his phone. Gotta love technology!

  2. The smart home can be a great thing, just make sure you tighten up all the loose security in a lot of them. Change the default settings for login and use a good password. There is a lot of potential for mischief in them as well.

The ability to monitor my home from anywhere would make me feel much more secure! This is a great idea!

  4. A system like this would make me feel much more secure when I’m the only one home or I’m away from home. I really like how they have a bunch of different Nexia compatible devices you can set up.

  5. I have been looking at adding a security system to my home. I hate to leave for a few days and not have an alarm. It would be cool to be able to check on the house online.

  6. Wow, now this is a home system. I haven’t heard of it before, but we have been talking about getting one… May have to look into this. Thanks for sharing.
