Looking for fun Valentine’s Day ideas for families? You’re not alone! Valentine’s Day can be so focused on couples, whether married or not. Really it is just a day to celebrate the ones we love. Our family. Spend the day with your family, or plan a day for the weekend. When it comes to thinking about what you can do as a family to celebrate each other, you might get stuck when it comes to Valentine’s Day. I have compiled a list below of fun Valentine’s Day ideas for families!
Valentine’s Day Ideas for Families
A Heart A Day: Starting on February 1st, leave a heart with a handwritten compliment on it on their bedroom door. You can do this for everyone in your family! Things like ‘You are smart!’ and ‘Such a kind person’ can really brighten a person’s day. If you have more than one child, you can have everyone take a turn and leave a heartfelt comment on someone’s door.
Family Date Night: Plan something nice for the entire family. Choose a place the kids will enjoy, but do not go to all the time. You could even turn this into a yearly tradition, it can be something the kids and you look forward to after the new year. Be sure it is a place that also you and your partner will enjoy as well!
Bake Cookies: So simple yet so fun! Make cookies so you can cut them into hearts before baking. Once they cool, decorate them as a family. The kids will love to decorate a cookie for each parents and each other. Not a baker? Not a problem! You can purchase pink wafer cookies, white melting chocolate and some fun Valentine’s sprinkles. Simply follow the instructions for melting the chocolate, dip the wafer cookies in, and then sprinkle on the sprinkles!
Movie Night: Pop the popcorn, make some hot cocoa and gather the blankets! Choose a family movie everyone will love. Turn the lights down and the cell phones off. Focus on your family and the quality time.
Family Coupons: We have all heard of coupons given to loved ones that say things like ‘Good for one foot massage’ or ‘Dinner just the two of us’. Get the whole family involved! Let the kids make some for the parents and each other and you make some for the kids. You can put them all in a dish and choose your coupon. Make sure to put your name on the back of the ones you make so they know who to redeem it with!
Whatever you and your family decide to do will surely make some memories. The important part is just to spend some quality time together. It can be easy to get caught up in the day to day routines of work and school and not to mention weekends full of sports and play dates.

It is a good idea to celebrate love and admiration for each member of the family,
Anytime I can get in the kitchen with the little one I definitely enjoy it.

I really love the “Heart A Day” idea!! It is so important to tell others how much they mean to us!!!
I love the idea of a family date night. We enjoy having a special dinner and make some fun snacks and watch a movie.
SIgn us up for the movie night! We will probably do something interactive for dinner like a taco bar or diy pizza!
These are all cute ideas. A movie nite would be a lot of fun!
Those are all great ideas and Movie Night and Baking Cookies would be on the top of my list.
We always do a Valentines day family dinner at home with pizza and ice cream!
I love the heart a day idea! That would be so cute to do with your kids.
Perfect ideas. Spend the day of love with those you love.
I love the idea of a family date night. Taking the whole family to a nice dinner or movie sounds great to me!
These are just great. We love Valentines with the kids. Hubby likes to drop flowers off for the girls at school and they love it 😉
What a Fantastic Idea! Thank you for the suggestion! My daughter would love this!
Lots of great ideas to do with my daughter!
These are great ideas. Now that it’s back to just being the hubby and me, I think we’re going to do a movie night – but no more kid movies!
I have always made Valentine’s Day about the family since the kids are only young once. We will be making and baking treats and doing a movie since luckily V-day is on a weekend night. Thanks for the fin ideas!
Movie night is always a fave for me. Our traverse rod recently broke though, and we have to replace it or put up something else. No curtains in there isn’t great at night since it faces the road. Makes me miss movie night. Thank goodness my delay is temporary, 🙂
We do more of a family date night, my husband is not big into Valentine’s Day he thinks it’s just another way for retailers to make money.
We are going to make cupcakes or cookies and then rent a movie to watch while we nom nom!
What wonderful ideas. we usually spend valentines day together as a family celebrating each other.
We will probably have a family date night. I like to make sure the kiddos are involved. We can do a date night without them, on a day that is not going to be congested with everyone else eating out too.
I love the heart a day idea! I did something similar last year but gave them to them all at once. One a day is much better. Then they can focus on that for the day and remember it. I’m so going to do this!
We love movie night! I might let my daughter pick this one. 😉
Those are all great ideas. We actually don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we do a lot of those things regularly.
All great ideas! I love them all, espcially baking and movie night! Thanks for sharing these ideas :).
