Looking for fun Valentine’s Day ideas for families? You’re not alone! Valentine’s Day can be so focused on couples, whether married or not. Really it is just a day to celebrate the ones we love. Our family. Spend the day with your family, or plan a day for the weekend. When it comes to thinking about what you can do as a family to celebrate each other, you might get stuck when it comes to Valentine’s Day. I have compiled a list below of fun Valentine’s Day ideas for families!
Valentine’s Day Ideas for Families
A Heart A Day: Starting on February 1st, leave a heart with a handwritten compliment on it on their bedroom door. You can do this for everyone in your family! Things like ‘You are smart!’ and ‘Such a kind person’ can really brighten a person’s day. If you have more than one child, you can have everyone take a turn and leave a heartfelt comment on someone’s door.
Family Date Night: Plan something nice for the entire family. Choose a place the kids will enjoy, but do not go to all the time. You could even turn this into a yearly tradition, it can be something the kids and you look forward to after the new year. Be sure it is a place that also you and your partner will enjoy as well!
Bake Cookies: So simple yet so fun! Make cookies so you can cut them into hearts before baking. Once they cool, decorate them as a family. The kids will love to decorate a cookie for each parents and each other. Not a baker? Not a problem! You can purchase pink wafer cookies, white melting chocolate and some fun Valentine’s sprinkles. Simply follow the instructions for melting the chocolate, dip the wafer cookies in, and then sprinkle on the sprinkles!
Movie Night: Pop the popcorn, make some hot cocoa and gather the blankets! Choose a family movie everyone will love. Turn the lights down and the cell phones off. Focus on your family and the quality time.
Family Coupons: We have all heard of coupons given to loved ones that say things like ‘Good for one foot massage’ or ‘Dinner just the two of us’. Get the whole family involved! Let the kids make some for the parents and each other and you make some for the kids. You can put them all in a dish and choose your coupon. Make sure to put your name on the back of the ones you make so they know who to redeem it with!
Whatever you and your family decide to do will surely make some memories. The important part is just to spend some quality time together. It can be easy to get caught up in the day to day routines of work and school and not to mention weekends full of sports and play dates.
