Celebrate Potty Training Awareness Month with Pull-Ups + Giveaway (CANADA Only) #PottyPartnership

Did you know that June is Potty Training Awareness Month? I know what you’re thinking: when you’re trying to teach your child to use the potty, every month is awareness month, right?  I remember that feeling well! I went it through it with both of my kids. Some say it’s easier to potty train a girl than a boy, but I can tell you from experience, both come with their own challenges. In fact, when you’re on the potty training journey, it’s not about boy versus girl, but more about working with your child’s unique personality. The Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership understands this better than anyone!

Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership Celebrates Your Child’s Personality

The Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership, which launched earlier this year, gives parents a whole new way to potty train. Pull-Ups® partnered with potty training expert and renowned child psychologist, Dr. Heather Wittenberg. Together, they came up with a brilliant new way to help your kids learn to use the potty by tailoring your approach to their own personality, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

By completing a free, online quiz, you will receive customized tips and advice based on the Potty Personality your child most resembles: a Squirrel, Bear Cub, Puppy, Owl or Turtle.

Of course, there are a few tips that apply to kids of all personalities! Good handwashing skills, for example, are imperative to keeping your kids healthy. Potty training time is a great time to reinforce those skills. Check out this great infographic to help you teach your kids the proper way to wash their hands.

While you’re teaching the “how” take a moment to talk to your kids about the “why.” Obviously, you’re not going to launch into an hour-long lecture on the different types of germs and the diseases they can cause. A simple explanation about how germs are itty-bitty little bugs that make us sick and how washing our hands sends them packing down the drain will suffice.

Another one of my favorite tips involves what to do when your child flat-out refuses to use to potty. The Pull-Ups® Partnership offers a few suggestions on what to do in this situation, but with my son, reverse psychology worked great. Telling him that I got to go first and making it a race to the potty put him in control AND boosted his self-confidence when I let him win.

You’ll find more tips, free printables and so much more on the Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership website. Check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up with news!
