Getting kids to brush properly can be a real challenge. Believe me, I know! My son’s idea of brushing his teeth is to run the toothbrush over his mouth quickly, spit and proclaim that he is done. He thinks ten seconds is plenty enough time to get off all the sugar bugs and other bacteria that accumulates throughout the day in his mouth. Uh, sorry kiddo, but no way! I tell him “not even close, Jake!” He gets mad and says he got all his teeth, what’s the problem? It’s a nightly routine that creates frustration for both of us.

The thing is, this kid NEEDS to brush better! His dad had teeth issues and it seems that Jake is following in his footsteps genetically when it comes to his mouth. Even though I keep on top of him about brushing, he’s still already had a couple of cavities. With his adult teeth coming in, I want to make sure he establishes a better dental hygiene routine that will keep those permanent teeth from getting ruined.

We had a chance to try out Tooth Tunes over the last two weeks, and I can already see an improvement. Jacob received a One Direction Tooth Tunes Toothbrush. It was such funny timing, too, because he just decided he likes that band after a friend’s daughter played him a song. It was like kismet! He wanted to try it right away when it arrived! Seriously, he was EXCITED about brushing his teeth, and it wasn’t even bed time yet!

The One Direction Tooth Tunes Toothbrush plays the song “One Thing” for a full two minutes. The unique technology actually streams the sound vibrations through the bristles of the toothbrush to allow kids to hear the music as they brush. Kids brush their teeth until the song ends. I stay in the room to make sure that he’s switching sides and doing the front and back, but at least I don’t have to fight with him to brush longer than 10 seconds. After all the Easter candy from the egg hunts and in those Easter baskets, now is definitely the time that we need to boost our dental hygiene routines!

As a mom of a stubborn child who moaned and groaned when it was time to brush his teeth, I can’t even tell you what a relief it is to find a toothbrush that actually gets my son excited about brushing. Tooth Tunes also comes with other songs, like Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” For younger tots, Tooth Tunes Jr. plays “The Alphabet Song,” “The Brush-a-long Song,” and my favorite, “The 50 States Song.” Visit the Tooth Tunes website for more information.

  1. My 5 year old son has one of these toothbrushes. He loves when it plays music for him while he brushes.

  2. These are so fun for little ones and it really gets them excited about brushing, I’m thinking I need to look into this again for my 8 year old who is getting pretty “forgetful” when it comes to cleaning her teeth.

  3. I have a radio in my shower so that I can listen to music while I shower and brush my teeth, so I can totally see why this would be appealing! Music really can help encourage you to do things that are more “Mundane” (But very important)!

  4. My kids have these and love them! No one fighting over brushing their teeth. They get excited to do so now.

  5. What a great product! When my girls were little, I struggled for way too many years brushing their teeth because they just would not do it. This would make it so much more fun :)
