Visit With Doctors & Therapists from Your Couch with Amwell #MOMSLOVEAMWELL

Stop self-diagnosing and waiting weeks to talk to therapists! Visit doctors and psychologists from the comfort of your own couch with Amwell. Get a free visit!

Today I want to share a great option for those of you who, like me, have been searching for a way to see a doctor or therapist without actually leaving your house. Let’s be honest, most of us are short on time these days. Whether we’re working moms trying to do it all or stay-at-home-moms who barely get time for a private bathroom break, our schedules are pretty much booked solid. We have very little wiggle room for things like sick days and doctor’s visits.

Therapy appointments are even harder! I have anxiety disorder. I was seeing a therapist regularly for it, which helped to an extent. Then I started to get more stressed out because the time commitment was just too much. Between driving there and back, and the hour “on the couch,” there were days when it caused me more anxiety to talk about my anxiety. I also found that sometimes I didn’t have much to say because I was feeling fine on those days, while other times I was having panic attacks in the middle of the week and needed to talk through them right away.

See a Doctor or Therapist 24 Hours a Day with Amwell

When I first heard about Amwell, I was really excited to try it out. It’s the nation’s largest telehealth company, featuring real, board-certified and licensed doctors, psychologists and dieticians. Someone is always available for immediate and live visits online every hour of the day. You can visit using your desktop or mobile device.

A few cool things about Amwell that really stand out:

  • It’s the first telehealth service awarded accreditation by The American Telemedicine Association
  • The first telehealth platform to integrate with Apple’s Health App
  • It’s also the ONLY serice that let’s YOU pick which doctor you want to see for an on-demand visit

You can use Amwell for general medical conditions, like minor illnesses and injuries. If you have a cough that’s concerning you or wake up with what you think could be pinkeye, it’s easy to hop on with an Amwell doctor and get it checked. Doctors can even prescribe basic medications, like antibiotics and certain pain medications. They can’t prescribe anything that needs a written prescription (controlled classes of medications, like narcotic pain relievers and benzodiazepines).

Using Amwell is easy. Choose your state when you sign up so you’ll have access to the right board-certified doctors. It’s available in 46 states right now! Once you’re in, decide whether you need a physician, psychologist or dietitian. You’ll see all the doctors available for your needs. Click on each one to read a little about them and decide which is right for you.

I primarily use Amwell for the on-call therapy. Finding and connecting to a therapist takes just minutes. Once I’m connected, I can talk my heart out about what is bothering me at any given time. I get the same quality ear and advice that I would get from an in-person session, except I can do it from the comfort of my own couch.

I can’t tell you how valuable it is to know that someone is always that close by when I need them. Living with anxiety disorder is rough at times. I’ve been dealing with it for over two decades, so I have a lot of tricks to cope. Still, there are times when I can feel myself spinning into a massive panic attack and need someone to talk me down.

The doctors and therapists at Amwell have an average of 15 years’ experience, so you can feel confident seeing them. You’d think all this convenience would come at a higher price tag, but it doesn’t. Amwell offers a $49 physician visit, versus an average $82 for first-time in-office visits. It’s a great option for college students or those between insurance.

With Amwell, you don’t have to diagnose yourself anymore. You also don’t have to wait a week to talk to someone when you need advice now.

  1. Wow! This is different. I’m curious as to if they accept insurance. This does seem like a really great thing for those who do not have the time to make it to appointments. Also these days getting appointments has proven to be very difficult. I recently scheduled an appointment with my primary care physician and the closest thing they had was next year February! I can see this changing the way we go to appointments. Thank you for sharing

  2. These services are becoming quiet popular! I hope that it helps those who are afraid to see the doctor get medical advice quicker before their issue becomes a big problem.

  3. I love Amwell! It’s nice to be able to talk to a doctor online. Sometimes you just cant’ get in to see a doctor, so this really comes in handy.

  4. Knowing that we don’t have to wait a week with Amwell just to see a doctor is simply great. With our current doctor, we sometimes even wait a month to see her.

  5. Amwell is a great way to see a Doctor when you need to. I have to wait a week to get into my Doctors. Sometimes you just can not wait and i hate to go to the hospital for antibiotics. I will have to give it a try the next time i am sick.

  6. I just love services like this. I wish they had been available when my kids were little. We were a 2-working-parent household, and trying to manage doctors visits was a major undertaking for us.

  7. I don’t know how I feel about doctors visits online. I work in healthcare and I think it’s really important to actually see and work with a doctor face to face.

  8. This is such a neat service and affordable too. This will be great for those that are out of town or on vacation and need medical advice.

  9. I’ve heard of this before. Sounds so convenient and nice. I didn’t even think about how it would people talk to professionals when they need it in that moment. SO helpful.

  10. This is a great resource, and I’m surprised it hasn’t really been implemented to it’s potential until now. I’m glad a company like Amwell is doing it well and doing it right. There are so many people that will really benefit from it!

  11. I have been hesitant about the whole online doctor thing, but the more I hear about it, the better it sounds. I especially love the idea of seeing a therapist online.

This sounds like a great service. I would definitely use it if I couldn’t get out of the house to see my actual doctor for some reason.

  13. This is a major convenience that I think most parents would love to try. I guess I’m just kinda got concerned with how accurate they are. Definitely worth checking out, especially for the price.
